Disaster Looms in Pakistan

Decorum was abandoned as accusations ricocheted between the wood-panelled walls of Pakistan's national assembly on Monday night. "Murderers! Murderers of innocent people!" screamed an MP from a religious party, his yellow turban shaking as he wagged a finger towards the government benches.

Five female parliamentarians, their faces concealed behind black and white burkas, slapped the benches with open palms. Another mullah stood up and started shouting. The speaker strained to maintain order.

Others were less captivated by the debate on last month's siege of the Red Mosque, in which more than 100 people died. One man snoozed at his desk. Across the vast hall others started whispered conversations. And high above them Muhammad Ali Jinnah, a dapper man with a pinched, clean-shaven face, looked on impassively from his giant portrait on the wall. Full story...

‘Suspicious’ Vessel Seen Near Cruise Ship

(CBS) LONG BEACH, Calif. A “suspicious” vessel was seen near a docked cruise ship in Long Beach today, a Coast Guard lieutenant said.

The Coast Guard received a report around 11:30 a.m. that the boat was within the 100-yard security zone around a Carnival Pride cruise ship, which was docked at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal, said Lt. Junior Grade Andrew Munoz of the Coast Guard.

Police, lifeguards, the Coast Guard and Long Beach Fire Department all responded immediately, he said.

The boat, a 15-to-18 foot metal skiff that was holding three males and a female, was seen in front of the cruise ship and along the cruise ship pier, Munoz said. The boat exited the area before law enforcement arrived.{snip}

Cops: Box labeled ‘radioactive’ found at accident site

A fender-bender at Hoboken and Summit avenues ended with the trunk of a parked car popping open to reveal a box labeled as having radioactive materials, Jersey City police have told The Jersey Journal.

After a response that included cops, firefighters, HAZMAT and other emergency personnel, the father of the car’s owner gave cops a plausible explanation for the box, police said.

Coalition Forces Capture Key Financier of Special Groups Terrorists

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces captured a key financier of Special Groups terrorists during a pre-dawn raid Monday in Western Baghdad. The detained individual is believed to be a Special Groups leader for the Bayaa province in Western Baghdad.

No shots were fired when Coalition Forces conducted a ground assault to capture or kill a suspected key financier of the “Special Groups” that are believed to have direct ties to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps – Quds Force (IRGC-QF). These Special Groups terrorists are suspected of killing Iraqi citizens, directing attacks against Coalition Forces, and promoting sectarian violence.

Coalition Forces confiscated a vehicle, two computers, photographs and various documents that may lead to future operations targeting Special Groups.

“Coalition Forces and their Iraqi interagency partners continue to build on a series of successful, integrated operations,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson. “Breaking the financial support chain of the Special Groups is an integral part of dismantling terror networks that seek to kill innocent Iraqis and Coalition Forces. We will continue to pursue these Special Groups in order to promote peace and stability in Iraq.”

Admittedly once in a while you’ll catch me in a rant, it happens. But NOT 20 times in 50 posts! OT my friend is off-topic, which nwctwx made pretty clear in post #813.

If you prefer reading about female circumcisions and their followups, then you are right on the pulse of the list...

Some of us are here for simply Threat related information, hence the thread’s name! I’m sticking around but would like to see less 16yr old labia cutting and more info on the terorrism threat. Understood?

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Neosho Police Chief Dave McCracken provided new details while addressing the local, regional and national media at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday.

McCracken confirmed there were three dead, and five wounded in the wake of Sunday afternoon’s shooting during a church service catering to Micronesians at the First Congregational Church, 121 N. Wood Street in downtown Neosho. One of the dead is Kernal Rehobson, a leader of this group of worshippers.

Rehobson served as pastor to the Pingelapese community in the church that they share with the Neosho Protestant congregation.

Of the five wounded, McCracken said authorities have “been led to believe that all of them will recover. One of them is going through surgery as we speak.”

McCracken said authorities are not willing to speculate on a motive, and charges will not be announced until a 10:30 a.m. Monday press conference.”

What is Phishing and Pharming?

Phishing attacks use both social engineering and technical subterfuge to steal consumers’ personal identity data and financial account credentials. Social-engineering schemes use ‘spoofed’ e-mails to lead consumers to counterfeit websites designed to trick recipients into divulging financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames, passwords and social security numbers.
