The FBI is investigating an alleged human smuggling operation based in Chaparral, N.M., that agents say is bringing "Iraqis and other Middle Eastern" individuals across the Rio Grande from Mexico.
An FBI intelligence report distributed by the Washington, D.C. Joint Terrorism Task Force, obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com, says the illegal ring has been bringing Iraqis across the border illegally for more than a year.
Border Patrol officials in the area said they were unaware of the specifics of the FBI's report, and federal prosecutors in New Mexico told ABCNews.com they had no current cases involving the illegal smuggling of Iraqis.
The FBI report, issued last week, says the smuggling organization "used to smuggle Mexicans, but decided to smuggle Iraqi or other Middle Eastern individuals because it was more lucrative." Each individual would be charged a fee of $20,000 to $25,000, according to the report.
The people to be smuggled would "gather at a house on the Mexican side of the border" and then cross the Rio Grande into the U.S., the report says.

Multiculturalism is simply a PC term for tribalism/feudalism. Works the same. Look north to canada to see it in action.
Should we be surprised?
Don’t worry.
The Administration tells us we are xenophobic to require the enforcement of the laws.
Terrorist infiltrators are obviously not a concern for you or the Administration.

Right now the poor men are too afraid of going to jail than protecting the border.
But Bush is tough on homeland security right?
The boarder is the Republican parties downfall, but their reluctance to pick up on the not so subtle clues and pride will cost them dearly.
When (not if) a group of terrorists attacks again, and we find out they snuck across our “well defended” border, I will lay the blame for it directly at the feet of George W. Bush and the Grand Comprimisers.
And as a STAUNCH conservative, I will have no qualms supporting Articles of Impeachment against the President for his abject failure to defend this country.
If I really had some foresight, Bush would have added "there are no wetback Iraqis smuggled across the border. Never!"
Chinese coolies built the 4,000-mile-long Great Wall of China centuries ago. And we can’t figure out how to build a fence?
Suggest we nab enough Chinese illegals off container ships to build a Great Wall of America for us, and offer them green cards in return.
Whatever happened to American Know-How? This administration, the one we so gleefully elected, can’t seem to get the job done. Besides, it’s very busy selling us out to globalists as fast as it can.
The border is a glaring failure. The damage already done is unacceptable. The damage that continues and may yet increase is criminal neglect IMO. If someone’s job is to uphold our laws and they don’t do it, it is neglect.
Blowing up stuff Americans won’t blow up?
Considering this is ABC News, I am surprised they commented on this at all. We have known that the border agents intercept Other Than Mexicans not infrequently. We have known that our border is porous. Why should this be surprising at all?!?
Ditto that, B24. I'm furious about the sellout of America.
It would be more appropriate to force illegal Mexican immigrants to build such a wall...
FBI's Mueller: Hezbollah Busted in Mexican Smuggling Operation
What if it is both? Why are they mutually exclusive possibilities?
So the FBI watched it happen, but did not arrest?
Are they watching them now?
Why are they being smuggled in? Why don’ they just drive or walk over out in the open? From what I’ve seen, any attempt to stop an illegal is a violation of their civil rights.
If there is a terrorist attack by a group that was smuggled over the Mexican border, I will have to blame Bush. He was the only one who had the power to enforce the border. It would be justified to impeach him.
