FBI: Iraqis Being Smuggled Across the Rio Grande
ABC ^ | July 17, 2007 3:11 PM | Brian Ross

Brian Ross Reports:

Fbiiraqisbein_mn

The FBI is investigating an alleged human smuggling operation based in Chaparral, N.M., that agents say is bringing "Iraqis and other Middle Eastern" individuals across the Rio Grande from Mexico.

An FBI intelligence report distributed by the Washington, D.C. Joint Terrorism Task Force, obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com, says the illegal ring has been bringing Iraqis across the border illegally for more than a year.

Border Patrol officials in the area said they were unaware of the specifics of the FBI's report, and federal prosecutors in New Mexico told ABCNews.com they had no current cases involving the illegal smuggling of Iraqis.

The FBI report, issued last week, says the smuggling organization "used to smuggle Mexicans, but decided to smuggle Iraqi or other Middle Eastern individuals because it was more lucrative." Each individual would be charged a fee of $20,000 to $25,000, according to the report.

The people to be smuggled would "gather at a house on the Mexican side of the border" and then cross the Rio Grande into the U.S., the report says.

Multiculturalism is simply a PC term for tribalism/feudalism. Works the same. Look north to canada to see it in action.

Don’t worry.

The Administration tells us we are xenophobic to require the enforcement of the laws.

Terrorist infiltrators are obviously not a concern for you or the Administration.

kinoxi-if we would BP do their job we wouldn't have the problem.

Right now the poor men are too afraid of going to jail than protecting the border.

But Bush is tough on homeland security right?

The boarder is the Republican parties downfall, but their reluctance to pick up on the not so subtle clues and pride will cost them dearly.

When (not if) a group of terrorists attacks again, and we find out they snuck across our “well defended” border, I will lay the blame for it directly at the feet of George W. Bush and the Grand Comprimisers.

And as a STAUNCH conservative, I will have no qualms supporting Articles of Impeachment against the President for his abject failure to defend this country.

If I really had some foresight, Bush would have added "there are no wetback Iraqis smuggled across the border. Never!"

Oh, and, in addition, “This May, the Bush administration pledged to resettle 7,000 Iraqi refugees here by the end of the year.” Just what we need.

Per other reports, that number could be revised upward to between 25,000 and 100,000.

Like father, like son. Bush Senior brought in a bunch of former Iraqi military after Gulf War I.

Chinese coolies built the 4,000-mile-long Great Wall of China centuries ago. And we can’t figure out how to build a fence?

Suggest we nab enough Chinese illegals off container ships to build a Great Wall of America for us, and offer them green cards in return.

Whatever happened to American Know-How? This administration, the one we so gleefully elected, can’t seem to get the job done. Besides, it’s very busy selling us out to globalists as fast as it can.

The border is a glaring failure. The damage already done is unacceptable. The damage that continues and may yet increase is criminal neglect IMO. If someone’s job is to uphold our laws and they don’t do it, it is neglect.

Considering this is ABC news, I would caution that people here should wait for the complete fact set before tearing into GWB and crew.

Considering this is ABC News, I am surprised they commented on this at all. We have known that the border agents intercept Other Than Mexicans not infrequently. We have known that our border is porous. Why should this be surprising at all?!?

Ditto that, B24. I'm furious about the sellout of America.

It would be more appropriate to force illegal Mexican immigrants to build such a wall...

This is nothing new. Something similar was reported a year ago. Bush is going to have a lot of explaining to do if we are hit again and it is discovered that the perpetrators came across the border or were visa overstays like four of the 19 9/11 hijackers.

What do you think is more likely, that the FBI and CIA have cooked up some elaborate plot to make Bush and Co. look bad or that terrorists really are using the porous southern border supplied to them courtesy of Bush and Co. to come here and do us harm?

What if it is both? Why are they mutually exclusive possibilities?

The “report” says they are being smuggled, gives a price, and all the different train stations, but doesn’t indicate if they were arrested?

So the FBI watched it happen, but did not arrest?

Are they watching them now?

Why are they being smuggled in? Why don’ they just drive or walk over out in the open? From what I’ve seen, any attempt to stop an illegal is a violation of their civil rights.

If there is a terrorist attack by a group that was smuggled over the Mexican border, I will have to blame Bush. He was the only one who had the power to enforce the border. It would be justified to impeach him.
