Live Earth Adds DC Show to Global Event (Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Headline)

Al Gore announced Friday a surprise Live Earth concert in Washington, foiling Senate Republicans who blocked Gore's attempt to bring his global warming extravaganza to the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.

The former vice president said the all-day "Mother Earth" concert would be held on the National Mall at the National Museum of the American Indian—about two blocks from the Capitol—as part of Saturday's concert series focused on climate change. The headliners are Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.

Some of my favorite people are involved in this twaddle. Mercifully though I won’t have to watch or listen to any of it. I don’t subscribe to satellite radio and the two cable channels are not part of my basic subscription.

And it’s supposed to be relatively nice here this weekend, so no way would I stay indoors to watch anything anyway.

I’ll be firing up my barbecue, and cooking tasty critters, and driving my gas guzzling SUV all weekend in honor of the concert.

When Garth left Sandy that was it for me. The nice, family oriented, good old country boy thing was nothing but an act.

This concert is going to make history...of the performers. This is just going to backfire so bad, like I said before, it`s going to come across as the Paris Hilton of concerts; Attention totally over the top for a questionable reason and people are going to be completely turned off by the whole thing.

I really doubt Trish and Garth are the main headliners. They are just add ons to all the other performers.
