Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007 - Amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to consider a person born in the United States "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States for citizenship at birth purposes if the person is born in the United States of parents, one of whom is: (1) a U.S. citizen or national; (2) a lawful permanent resident alien whose residence is in the United States; or (3) an alien performing active service in the armed forces.
I wonder what effect this has on the other side of the equation: a child born to an American citizen overseas. What if an American citizen has a child overseas? Does this law exclude that child from American citizenship?
I noted in the actual legislation on Thomas that it apparently is not intended to have any effect on other parts of the immigration and nationality law that is being amended, but I am not sure that that rules out my question.
Either way he'd drive the left even more nutz. And for sure they'd give him some wacko 'evil' nickname.
No the parents have to apply for the child to become an American citizen...
But the child born overseas while his Dad is an American soldier stationed overseas is not eligible to ever become POTUS

None of the members of the European Union have an “anchor” baby law like the United States. Ireland was the last EU country to abolish their laws regarding “anchor” babies in 2002. Canada and Mexico have no such law either.

They are not visited by the IRS. They do not have to register with selective service, and will not be drafted if a draft is enacted. They do not get called to serve on juries. They are, in fact, not known to be here until a crime is committed and they come onto the government’s radar. So, using your point of view, the only babies born to illegals that are instantly citizens under the 14th are those born to illegals who have committed a crime. It’s foolish to think that being able to punish criminals within our borders suddenly qualifies those people as being under our jurisdiction. If a Mexican citizen stood on his side of the border and shot a US citizen to death on our side of the border, the Mexican would not be under our jurisdiction, but that would not prevent the US government from pursuing criminal charges against him.
Great! This bill would reduce the amount of illegals coming here, who do so with the specific purpose to drop an anchor baby! Almost 400,000 anchor babies were born to illegals last year!
Why don’t you ask some of those fellas down at Gitmo?
