Democratic presidential contenders Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards all got personal last night during a forum focused on something much less commonly mentioned on the campaign trail: their religious faith. During a wide-ranging discussion, each Democrat took the stage to discuss their views on religion, values and poverty. But the three front-runners for their party's 2008 nomination also fielded questions much more personal in nature about their sins and prayer habits. Mrs. Clinton, a senator from New York, told the audience of 1,300 that her faith helped her survive her husband's infidelity when he was in the White House. "I'm not sure I would have gotten through it without my faith," the former first lady said. "I am very grateful that I had a grounding in faith that gave me the courage and the strength to do what I thought was right regardless of what the world thought," she said, to sustained applause. "And that's all one can expect or hope for." She added that her "extended faith family" acted as "prayer warriors for me." When asked his biggest sin, Mr. Edwards, a former senator from North Carolina, said there were too many to name. "If I have a day where I haven't sinned multiple times, I would be amazed," he said. The 2004 Democratic vice-presidential nominee also said God helped him in dark times, saying, "My faith came roaring back" when his family faced crisis and still "gives me strength to keep going." He needed his faith when he lost his son and during his wife's ongoing battle against cancer. Elizabeth Edwards received loud applause as she was seated before the forum. Mr. Obama, a senator from Illinois, gave the most political answers of the trio...

Essay question for each Dem — Write a paragraph on the theme: “God says it’s OK to abort babies because ...”
He added there is evil in the world -- as seen in the September 11 terrorist attacks -- and said he sees it in the detention camp in Guantanamo and in the prisoner abuses at Abu Ghraib in Iraq.
I didn’t read past the excerpt, but I wonder what, exactly, hillary’s faith is in?
Her own ability to know better than everyone else.
i do not believe their statements about their so-called religious faith. these democrats have communism as their religion which has room for no other and which also commands that they lie to further the cause. (which they are doing very well, every waking moment.)
In other words we’re just like the terrorists.
Democrat faith is inversely proportional to the number of days before an election.
Hell no they’re not sincere. Posers.
The MSM will fill a million bird cages with stories about flip-flopping republicans who pander for votes by taking popular positions just in time for elections. But we see the dems follow a cycle repeatedly of being pro-religion, pro-gun, pro-defense, anti-tax on election years and anti-religion, anti-gun, anti-defense, pro-tax every other waking moment and not a peep is heard from the 4th estate.
This is like a Democratic comb-over to cover bald faced lies.
To them, The Bible is a campaign prop to grab every Sunday morning during election season.
May I be the first?
Seperation of church and state. Seperation of church and State!!!!
Oooops, wrong party.
It has been said that your God is whoever you look to in time of trouble. In that case, these, and most other politicians look to Washington, D.C. as their deity.
When people talk of their “faith” and they purport to be Christians, but don’t mention Jesus, Christ, savior, salvation or similar names and phrases, it comes off as fake, which, I suspect in these cases, it is.
And a paragraph for hillary on the subject: How my faith in God allowed me to decorate the WH Christmas with condoms.
“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.”
-Adolf Hitler-
Kind of ironic....The GOP has no problem turning their back on the conservative christian voters and the dems are trying to court them.
they would make uncle adolf and herr goebbles proud.
