Hispanic activists in denial over opposition to illegal immigration

Of all the poll results reported last week by the Review-Journal -- including public opinions related to highway construction, education and the war in Iraq -- the least-surprising findings dealt with illegal immigration.

Mason-Dixon Polling and Research Inc. interviewed 625 registered Nevada voters on Monday and Tuesday -- 262 Republicans, 259 Democrats and 104 independents. The majority of participants, regardless of their party affiliation, gender or region of residence, made it clear they're sick of providing public services to illegal immigrants and that they want law enforcement to pay better attention to the issue.

Seventy-two percent of respondents said illegal immigrants who graduate from Nevada high schools should not be allowed to receive Millennium Scholarships, which provide four years of tuition to the state's public colleges and universities. Seventy-seven percent of participants said election ballots and state documents should not be printed in languages other than English. And 81 percent of those polled said Nevada businesses should be cited and fined for

Of course, since this wasn’t a political poll, the number of R’s sampled is higher than D’s. None the less, I don’t think it is too far off.

Funny they did not vote that way in the last election. They voted to replace a tough border enforcement Congress with a Do Nothing Congress. IF the Illegals are such as issue, people better start thinking before they cast their votes. Doesn’t matter what a politican tells you on the stuff, what matters is what they do in DC. So far the New Congress has done NOTHING. And you can plan on that not changing any time soon.

I know plenty of democrats who are sick of the illegal invasion too. The only difference is that we tend to blame both parties and they blame republicans.

Anti-illegal immigration sentiment cuts into virtually every America sector - opposition to amnesty is WORSE among the black and poor. This quote:

“There is a way to skew things (with polls),” Mr. Romero said after learning of the survey’s results. “I don’t think the poll reflects the diversity of the community.” He added that denying full college scholarships to illegals is “closing the door on the future of our children

No, it’s “closing the door on the future” of an illegal alien to make room for an American citizen to have a future.

I wonder if the Nevada Dem primary is going to cause the Dems a BIG problem...hope so...they’ll be forced to confront the issue. OTOH, given the las way Dems deal wih issues like voter eligibility..it wouldn’t s urprise me if we have a big scandal about huge number of illegals vorting..be ironic if illegals determine the Dem nominee..

Aurora to unfurl law to ban motorists’ flag-waving

By James Kimberly, Sara Olkon and Rhianna Wisniewski. James Kimberly and Sara Olkon are Tribune staff reporters. Rhianna Wisniewski is a freelance reporter.
Published May 7, 2007

It has become a tradition, a way to publicly celebrate a missed homeland by driving slowly, honking the horn and waving the Mexican flag.

But in Aurora, where nearly one in three people says they are Mexican-American, such celebrations could become a crime punishable by a $250 fine and, on the third offense, seizure of the vehicle... Excerpt

11.5% of all Republican seats in Congress were lost as Democrats took back control of Congress

But only 6.7% of the Members of Tancredo’s Immigration Reform Caucus lost their seats.AND- one of them was Hayworth who voted against HR 4437!

# 9.6% with an A grade lost

# 25.0% with an F grade lost

It nice you have really strong feelings on this issue, please do not confuse your feelings for facts.

The facts are the American people fired a tough border enforcement House Republican Leadership and hired a Do Nothing about the Border Democrat Congress to replace them. Telling each other happy rah-rah BS about how everyone agrees with our own feelings about the Border may make us feel better but it will neither win elections nor get any policy changes implemented in DC.

Scream bile at everyone who does not mindlessly regurgitate the Border gospel as preached by St Tancredo will NOT change the basic fundamental political realities.

The Anti Illegal Caucus had better wake up to the fact they have NOT won this argument and have a whole lot more educating to do on this topic before they will start winning elections.

I know several DU’ers and they are more upset about illegal immigration that most of us BUT...they blame republicans for the amnesty bill, not their own. Of course facts will not change their minds.

Oh yeah, I worked with them until I retired. You should read some of the emails I get. Talk about off the map, these people are also around the bend. I wish I could say they were funny but sadly they aren’t...whole to meaning to derangement.

The only sectors of America that support the illegals are the Reconquista lobby, and the oligarch lobby.

Unfortunately, the latter lobby controls America and most of our so-called Representatives.

WHOSE CHILDREN????

Mexico, and other nations, should welcome scholarship-worthy students home with open arms, provide them scholarships, and nurture their success. Since they're part of an invasion, we should provide just one thing....a one-way ticket home. Well, maybe one other thing.....a bill for all of the education and services they received in the US.

The people who think this survey is skewed are delusional. Then only people who favor the invasion are (1) corporate and other interests that benefit financially from the cheap labor and (2) the invaders themselves.

Anyone that thinks this is a fringe issue should answer one question. Why won’t our leaders enforce the laws of this nation? The answer is simple and very troubling. They think they’ll offend the illegals and their sympathizers. Okay, tell me there are only 12 million illegals vs 65% of the populace that is white and is quite sick of what is taking place.

If our public officials are so terrified of the illegals when there are only 12 million here (by their count), what will they think when they realize there are 20 to 30 million here?

Do citizens count here anymore? Sadly, it’s tough to find any evidence of it. Saying this, one must realize that this nation is far more down the road to Mexicanization that just about anyone wants to admit.
