The tone of the debate and the attacks on long-time fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me. Instead of fighting the enemy FR is now imposing an 'ideological purity' test on FR members. The well-oiled train has gone off the rails and Mr. Robinson risks becoming the next Joe Farah - a fellow who started a great website for conservative news and opinions, but who gradually drifted off to la-la land, losing all credibility - and readership - in the process.
He has set himself squarely in the Internet media spotlight, doused himself with gasoline, and and lighted himself on fire - a fact that has not escaped the attention of the left-wing lunatics at Daily Kos. Their reporting on what has been going on at FR is perhaps the first factually true account published on their site.
Jim, if that quote of yours about setting up an organization to 'Swiftboat Rudy' is accurate as quoted in their article, the only thing I have to say to you is that you ought to be ashamed of yourself, as you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause.
If you wish to marginalize this site by turning it into a narrow "several-issue" forum, that is your right. Just as it is my right to choose to not participate here any longer.
But you will be disappointed if you think that the crude, illiterate "goon squad" you have allowed free rein around here (dmw, narses, dirtboy, extremely extreme extremist, ReaganMan and several others - if I have slighted anyone, please email me if you want onto this list) will elevate the level of intellectual debate.
The result has been predictably in the other direction. That is what happens when you hire a bunch of brown shirts to enforce your own brand of political correctness.
Well, guess what? Politics is 99% BS and one can quite nicely live one's life without the need to bloviate about it. I know how I am going to vote. I could care less about anyone else. Life is too short to waste my time around here when I am clearly one of those made to feel like they are not welcome.
So, go ahead Jim -
MAKE MY DAY. BAN ME. I DARE YOU.
Poor thing. This is a conservative site so no liberals are wanted here. I was for Rudy until I started learning about what his views are. I can not and will not support him.
Hey Al...guess what!
You’re a loser !
(Oops there goes another rubber room plant.)
Ban you? Why do that when we can have so much fun ridiculing your stupid liberal lying ass.
When did Conservatives support Liberals in the first place?
FR as has been repeated countless times is not a liberal website. It’s conservative. Not REPUBLICAN. CONSERVATIVE.
There is a huge difference especially these days.
Geez, I don’t even remember seeing your name in the Rudy threads. I must not have been paying attention.
Great contrast though. Jim posts an eloquent statement of his conservative principles and why he wants to operate a site that promotes the entirety of conservative thought.
You post a self-important vanity that essentially says you don’t like focusing on conservatism so you are leaving, except you aren’t leaving instead you are posting ABOUT leaving.
I wish you’d stay around, come over to the real thread, and try to argue why your position is more appropriate for this site. As a long-time member, I’d think you would have something to add to the discussion.
Oh well, my guess though is that if you aren’t banned, you will just keep complaining until you are. You seem committed to being kicked out.
Until then, though, I will give you courtesy and respect, something you seem less interested in giving to people at this site that disagree with you in this post.
I hope Jim doesn't ban you for this post because it appears that is exactly what you want.
Wish I had a picture of Opus from the comic to post, it seems fitting.
Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism, on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism, in America.
Have to disagree with you on this. He isn't hiding in conservative clothing, he is flat out a liberal. I have posted several times that if Rudy should win it all, set back with the popcorn. Many here think that Bush has taken a beating on FR "you ain't seen nuth'n yet!" The same people that push Rudy will be the ones that will be hurt the most. The one thing I have learned over the years is not to fall in love with any politician as they will break your heart. Rudy Bots have yet to learn that simple lesson.
Another liberal has left the building.
I guess Jim made your day.
Oh, man, no thumbs? What’s gonna separate you from the animals now?
Nevertheless, if it comes down between Rudi and a Rat, then as much as it would pain me I would vote for Rudi.
However, I much rather see a conservative as a candidate than Rudi. To many of us on Free Republic he is almost another RINO.
Everyone is passionate here, and this is why there is so much fire. If it was Regan in office, then I would bet we would not be this divided. Just my two cents.
I learned a lesson about burning bridges over 50 years ago, I see you never did.
You liberals thought Rudy Giuliani would give you cover to spew your gun-grabbing, abortionist, homosexual agenda on Freerepublic. You were wrong. Now you are gone. Good riddance.
Worst. Opus. Ever.
Great tagline!
Enemy? Aren’t you trying to cause trouble and voting for a candidate that does not even come close to any conservative principles? There are somethings more important than voting for a liberal. If that is all we have got, we are in trouble as a nation.
