JIM ROBINSON AS THE NEW JOSEPH FARAH - STABBING THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT IN THE BACK [Re:Giuliani]
On one the few rational minds left around here - but for long | 4/24/2007 | Al Simmons

Posted on 04/24/2007 10:22:39 AM PDT by Al Simmons

About me:

Lurker - since 1998

Member - since 1999

In self-imposed exile - since April 2007

The tone of the debate and the attacks on long-time fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me. Instead of fighting the enemy FR is now imposing an 'ideological purity' test on FR members. The well-oiled train has gone off the rails and Mr. Robinson risks becoming the next Joe Farah - a fellow who started a great website for conservative news and opinions, but who gradually drifted off to la-la land, losing all credibility - and readership - in the process.

He has set himself squarely in the Internet media spotlight, doused himself with gasoline, and and lighted himself on fire - a fact that has not escaped the attention of the left-wing lunatics at Daily Kos. Their reporting on what has been going on at FR is perhaps the first factually true account published on their site.

Jim, if that quote of yours about setting up an organization to 'Swiftboat Rudy' is accurate as quoted in their article, the only thing I have to say to you is that you ought to be ashamed of yourself, as you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause.

If you wish to marginalize this site by turning it into a narrow "several-issue" forum, that is your right. Just as it is my right to choose to not participate here any longer.

But you will be disappointed if you think that the crude, illiterate "goon squad" you have allowed free rein around here (dmw, narses, dirtboy, extremely extreme extremist, ReaganMan and several others - if I have slighted anyone, please email me if you want onto this list) will elevate the level of intellectual debate.

The result has been predictably in the other direction. That is what happens when you hire a bunch of brown shirts to enforce your own brand of political correctness.

Well, guess what? Politics is 99% BS and one can quite nicely live one's life without the need to bloviate about it. I know how I am going to vote. I could care less about anyone else. Life is too short to waste my time around here when I am clearly one of those made to feel like they are not welcome.

So, go ahead Jim -

MAKE MY DAY. BAN ME. I DARE YOU.

The folks who support Rudy are attempting to change the definition of conservatism to mean pro-abortion, pro-gay, etc, etc. Does that help?

You think indylindy’s post was incoherent? How much have you had to drink today? I understood the post just fine. If there is a problem with incoherence, you might look to the Rudy Giuliani kamikaze squad!

Last I checked, wolves in drag dress up as Grandma, not Marilyn Monroe.

OTOH, if Marilyn Monroe was still alive, she'd be a grandma by now...

That's very true, dirtboy. But this is the modern popular age, not story books. Join the trend, will ya. The world has changed since those days, and oh so much...Big sigh.

Since when do Conservatives march in lockstep. Conservatism is a movement that welcomes debate and ideas, not a movement that squelches it. Most of us haven’t seen anyone who is worth voting for, but that is no reason to rip on ones we don’t like.

Suppose Tancredo is the only one that meets the criteria and will only get 5% of the vote, do we have to vote for him?? Isn’t that political suicide??

Pray for W and Our Troops

“Incoherent” doesn’t always mean that something can’t be understood. In this case, it means stupid and pointless.

“fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me.”
.
First of all this is exactly what Liberals do to try to attain “Victim Status”....they get offended, then hurt, then they sue. This is NOT how conservatives (especially the ones on this web sight) are, most of us take responsibility for their own actions. I really like the part where you commit suicide by sticking that knife in your chest when you ask “The Honorable” (I can say this because I’ve met him personally) Jim Robinson to ban you. Personally I hope he doesn't ban you because your pretty fun to "Whip" on.

One way to squelch “debate and ideas” is to post some of the kinds of comments that have been made against Rudy and his supporters. Some are so abusive and overstated that they degrade the quality of debate, making fewer intelligent people want to participate. I don’t suggest that conservatives “march in lockstep.” It’s actually some of the Rudy-bashers who seem to want that ... marching, of course, in their direction.

RANT

I honestly don’t have a clue what this post was meant or supposed to do other than to get FReepers fighting against each other, to be used as fodder for liberal groups to show the division within the conservative community, i.e. Kos and DU.

IMHO, it is simply too far in advance in a process that is ridiculously early for this type of infighting. Once the field is reduced to those who will seriously contend, the discussion should begin WITHOUT the name calling etc..

Everyone has their favorite..I have mine and I don’t deride anyone for their choice. Healthy discussion is good, but a robust ride down the slope to calling someone names simply because they support candidate A or B or C or D isn’t..

IMHO this looks like the DU on this thread, only the names are Guiliani, Hunter, etc..and not Hillary, Obama and Edwards..it’s times like this that I’m ashamed to be associated with FR..reading this thread looks like a Jr. High fight over who’s more popular..

For Gods sake, wait till the field thins, THEN let the discussion begin..

RANT OFF

I have reported you for abuse. There needs to be heat on Jim Robinson to curtail some of the vicious attacks against people who have a different perspective on Rudy, or on Rudy-bashing.
