Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

FR will be a very, very different place going forward, apparently.

Feeling a chill?

Just got back from Idaho, where I was told your once-Libertarian governor

Yeah. he is a Constitution respecting, PROLIFE governor, and we love him.

has now become mainstream Republican

Mainsteam Republican is Conservative in Idaho.

the Boise area is now considered 50/50 red/blue.

Yeah we have a problem in Boise, lots of libs moving in , mostly from California. People in "Ada think they rule, but they don't" Believe me we have plans. Getting rid of the "open primary" is one tool we plan to take away from the liberals. There is a whole different world outside Ada county.

Yep, sounds like a real conservative trend to me.

Statistics are that more Republicans are moving into Idaho than Democrats, I think 3 to 1, they are coming here for "family value" reasons. I knock on thousands of doors, I ask. (I know more than Butch):)

Ultra Consertvative, (as I described in my last post) Bill Sali got elected in the first CD, that is 1/2 of Ada County on up.

kevmo;, where is that post I posted about the last Idaho election?

Tutti frutti, oh Rudi,
Tutti frutti, oh Rudi,
Tutti frutti, oh Rudi,
Tutti frutti, oh Rudi,
Tutti frutti, oh Rudi,
Wop bop a loo bop a lop bam boom!

I know a guy, named Giules, he's proud of his family jewels,
I know a guy, named Giules, he's proud of his family jewels,
He puts on a gown, heads into town,
Gonna take the Grand Old Party down!

WHOSE principles do you stand on?

It’s a nice try to back out of what you said but it doesn’t fly. You typed quicker than you ‘thought’ because you have been dishing it out with all your vile comments. It’s all a heart issue and you exposed what’s in your heart. You merely posted on the quick - “You don’t stand on Godly principles” and then try the back door when called on it.

Jim, do you approve of his name calling and slurs when addressing me- , i.e., liberal, cretin. If someone ‘pretending to be against Rudy’ are they given a free pass. I’m sure lurkers are puzzled about this, also. This poster has caused more disruption to this thread and his intentions are not pure, IMO. His traits do not ring ‘conservative’.

I’m sure that if the conservatives give up and vote for Giuliani that would be detrimental in the long run to conservatism.

If Rudy does win, and he does for DC what he did for NYC -- where does that leave FR?

This is a line in the sand being drawn here. Ya'll are betting all or nothing on Rudy being a demon.

I don't see what you see. I see Rudy as a social liberal, political conservative. He could end up being a great conservative president.

And I wonder, if that happens, what does that do to the credibility of all those here?

If what you state is true the voters didn’t reject pro life and pro gun.

That proves my point the Rudy will have nothing to offer those voters that would sway them.

Add in all the negatives he has to the normal Republican voters and it looks like doom for poor Rudy in Ohio and the other Red states.

Nothing. It still leaves us with our principles that we refuse to compromise. But I doubt anyone can be a great conservative president while being socially liberal. It is an oxymoron.

Feeling a chill?

Most definitely.

I like FR cuz I thought it was a sight where folks of all stripes were welcome to come and discuss issues.

It does seem the tide is turning.

Then there's the whole idea of what happens if/when Rudy wins . . . FR is risking being marginalized.

“If Rudy does win, and he does for DC what he did for NYC — where does that leave FR?”

What he did for nyc- - hassle law abiding gun owners, take away their ability to own guns, trash the first amendment, spend like a drunken sailor once he has the tax money, speak at NARAL lunches, and give special treatment and services to illegal aliens?

Boy, what a great conservative president that would be!!!

“And I wonder, if that happens, what does that do to the credibility of all those here?”

Their warnings about rudy will be shown to have been correct.

What would the cost be to us if we lose our freedoms; if we sacrificed them to gain an imaginary defense against a distant and crippled foe?

There is no evidence whatsoever that Giuliani would prosecute the war any more vigorously than any other candidate. Hillary, at least, has her pro-war votes to point to. Giuliani hasn’t even got that much on his resume. What he does have is a record of vigorously opposing the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms. He maintains this position despite the fact that Americans use those arms 2,000,000 times each year to halt violent crimes. Would you sacrifice 2,000,000, a fair sized city’s population, each year banking on the hope that Giuliani’s imagined anti-terror record might “some day” save another city’s worth? Those numbers don’t add up.

Yes, a place were conservatives can advance their ideals without people trying to sell liberalism as conservatism.

You mean 'social conservatives', of course. 'Political conservaties' now are being pushed away.

I did not know this site is for social Cs only. I thought it was a place where political conservatism was welcome.

I guess I stand corrected.

WOW. I stumbled on the thread and followed through few exchanges and read some of your latest posts. I am in absolute agreement with you, and some of the names you mentioned were people I had considered FRiends (mutual or not, don’t know and it’s irrelevant anyway).

Check my tagline I borrowed from somebody a few weeks ago. I think he/she was banned shortly after that. Did not know that poster before, maybe somebody short lived (?).

I think the level of discontent and shrillness of argument goes up to the Dems levels. Its understandable, but not right. I love a well stated argument even when disagree. We are not and cannot be all the same. Your approach as a company president makes lots of sense.

Anyway, hope you and other FRiends stay out of the minefields. All the best,
