Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Compromise your values and you lose everything that really matters.

Looks good on paper. That can only apply in your personal life. There is a whole country to consider. I'm not that selfish that I would expect millions of Americans to follow my values; it's not reality. It would be nice if everyone was on the same page but you don't even get that within families. Yet, you want it for the meltingpot of the world.

President Reagan didn’t have cancer going it. The job is so stressful presidents get cancer. Just look at a before and after photo of every president. They age.

That’s why I won’t vote for one starting out with cancer.

“I expressed that I would rather not pay at all, but if I have to pay, I’d rather pay less than more.”

Actually what you said was you’d pay for a $500 abortion rather than...welfare payments that accrue...to 200K per life.

What you said was very clear...life means cost/benefit analysis to you. You may agree with other Giuliani policies.

Well, back to the thread to survey the carnage! LOL

Surveying carnage is some people's idea of fun, I guess. :)

Yep, that’s pretty bad polling, and it shows that the strategy of 2006 of running away from conservatism did NOT bring people to the party.

And it shows that Rudy has NO COATTAILS. Rudy is supposedly the savior, the consumate cross-over candidate that will entice people back to republicans.

Well, he’s got the most name recognition, he’s leading in the polls, he “beats hillary” in polls, and what has he done for republicans?

Given us polls that show that fewer people than ever plan to vote republican (except apparently for Rudy).

We need a candidate who, when he speaks, espouses conservative principles that will lead people back to what is right, and bring voters back to the party of principle, the party with the ideas that work, the party that will keep government off your back, keep your money in your own pocket, protect innovation, liberty, freedom, and the life of all people, born and pre-born.

Rudy gives no voter a reason to “vote republican”, since he isn’t very republican.

In classical Rome the </i>paterfamilias</i> held that power regardless of age, and did not need any reasons - drain, or no drain. Under normal conditions the cases of that power exercised were extremely rare. There are parental hormones - oxytocin, I believe. Besides, the children knew enough to behave.

Somehow they think that we are just going to fall all over ourselves coming around to supporting Rudy. Never happen here at my house!

Good point. Yes, I meant something like that, but obviously something he did that made us safer, not less safe.

To be clear on my last post: It is common knowledge that Republicans voted for Perot more than Dems did. I don’t accept, however, that those Republicans were “conservatives”. I’m sure some were, of course.

So, our best candidates are busy running large corporations, or running their own businesses, or enjoying the lifestyle that their success has brought them. Not running for President. Most people see what the lib media does to a conservative politician and feel that life is too short to put up with that crap.

Getting savaged by the press, and sometimes by members of your own party, is not something most people are not willing to endure. I think Fred Thompson is probably considering that very notion as we speak.

You said if Fred can get in there and motivate the base. Well someone better get in and motivate Fred. I don’t believe he wants to run. Just a hunch.

#1952: "Of course, I would much rather not fund anything, but $500 is better than $100000."
Do you know how to read - I mean, to read non-selectively? No point in discussing with such.

One thing is certainly clear, FR is all about gays and abortions and NOTHING at all about national security.

You got a lot of responses, but none that asked this simple question:

Name one thing that Rudy Giuliani has accomplished to enhance National Security. And supporting the ban on assault weapons doesn't count, at least not here.

Serious. Give me a link to some legislation he enacted, some policy he pushed, something that improved national security. What experience does he bring to the table?
