We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
Before Rudy was elected Mayor, tax-and-spend policies created billion-dollar deficits and led to the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs in New York City. Rudy restored fiscal discipline by controlling spending and cutting wasteful programs. He cut the size of city-funded government bureaucracy by nearly 20% - excluding the number of cops on the street and teachers in the classroom. Rudys record proves he can deliver results and return fiscal discipline to the federal government.
Rudy is the real fiscal conservative in the race. He cut taxes 23 times in New York and turned a $2.3 billion budget deficit into a multi-billion dollar surplus, while balancing the citys budget. Because he turned his conservative principles into action, New York City taxpayers saved more than $9 billion in taxes and enjoyed their lowest tax burden in decades, while the economy grew and city government saw its revenues increase from the lower tax rates. Rudy Giuliani believes in supply-side economics, because he did it and he saw it work.
Rudy Giuliani believes winning the war on terror is the great responsibility of our generation. America cannot afford to go back to the days of playing defense, with inconsistent responses to terrorist attacks, because weakness only encourages aggression. Americans want peace. Were at war not because we want to be, but because the terrorists declared war on us - well before the attacks of September 11th. Rudy understands that freedom is going to win this war of ideas. America will win the war on terror.
Like all Americans, Rudy Giuliani prays for the success of our troops in Iraq and their safe return home. But he believes setting an artificial timetable for withdrawal from Iraq now would be a terrible mistake, because it would only embolden our enemies. Iraq is only one front in the larger war on terror, and failure there would lead to a broader and bloodier regional conflict in the near future. Building an accountable Iraq will assist in reducing the threat of terrorism.
Before Rudy became Mayor, New York City was averaging close to 2,000 murders a year and more than 11,000 major crimes per week. He put more cops on the street and more criminals in jail. He cut crime in half and reduced murders by two-thirds. He improved response times in the Fire Department and created the Office of Emergency Management. Rudy improved the quality of life for all citizens and turned New York into the safest large city in America, according to FBI crime statistics.
Rudy Giuliani served as the third highest ranking official in Ronald Reagans Justice Department, worked as a US Attorney, and argued cases before the Supreme Court. He understands the responsibility the President has to appoint and nominate federal judges. The kind of judges he has said he would appoint are strict constructionists like Justices Scalia, Roberts and Alito principled individuals who can be trusted to respect the Constitution as it is written, rather than attempting to legislate from the bench.
As Mayor, Rudy Giuliani worked to reform the nations largest public school system, with over 1 million school children. He increased school funding and hired new teachers, while insisting on reforms that ended social promotion, abolished principal tenure, and created a Charter School Fund. Rudy is also a strong supporter of school choice, believing that it is one of the great civil rights issues of our time.
Rudy Giuliani supports reasonable restrictions on abortion such as parental notification with a judicial bypass and a ban on partial birth abortion except when the life of the mother is at stake. Hes proud that adoptions increased 66% while abortions decreased over 16% in New York City when he was Mayor. But Rudy understands that this is a deeply personal moral dilemma, and people of good conscience can disagree respectfully. Ultimately he believes that it is a decision between a woman, her doctor, her family, and her God.
Rudy Giuliani is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. When he was Mayor of a city suffering an average of almost 2000 murders a year, he protected people by getting illegal handguns out of the hands of criminals. As a result, shootings fell by 72% and the murder rate was cut by two-thirds. But Rudy understands that what works in New York doesnt necessarily work in Mississippi or Montana.
Rudy Giuliani believes marriage is between a man and a woman. He does not - and has never - supported gay marriage. But he believes in equal rights under law for all Americans. That's why he supports domestic partnerships that provide stability for committed partners in important legal and personal matters, while preserving the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman.
Oh, my. You asked for a link that Reagan signed what was then the most liberal abortion bill in the nation. I gave you one. But keep pretending that he didn’t do it and I didn’t give you a link if it makes you feel better.
But, hey we’ve still got tomorrow. Bump for 5,000 posts.
1. I did not ‘cheer’, and I don’t care whether the owners actions were ‘justified’. I would not presume to opine one little bit about how Jim Robinson (my hero) runs his website. I thought that particular portion of this thread was, actually, funny as hell. Especially the way that I managed to paraphrase it in my post.
2. Yes, I am a ‘newbie’. Which (as well as the fact that I am not Jim Robinson) gives me absolutely no say in who gets banned, and who is allowed to stay and be ‘thrown around like a dwarf’.
3. I posted this in response to an actual question by Peach, if you don’t remember posting it, or did not read the post as it appeared...
BWAHAHAHAHA
“Very nice. Congrats if that’s your contribution.”
Only partial - “Just sayin” used the term “undocumented” in post 1098 and I just took it the rest of the way. ;)
Tony Snow used to post here. Campaigns have posted here. It is perfectly reasonable to surmise that Rudy's campaign is active here, trying to soften up conservative opposition. Especially when some of the most active spam posters in recent months have been Rudy's supporters.
Again, since you're here, could you kindly tell me how promoting a pro-abortion anti-gun candidate furthers the conservative cause?
I pray we prevail too! The media ignores Duncan. They act like they don't even know he's running. I've only talked to Duncan on the phone, but he sure did impress me. I would love to see a Thompson/Hunter ticket. Either way! THAT would definitely be a dream team. :o)
If I tried to FReep when I come crawling in at 3 AM, I'd be so incoherent people would think I'm a deep sleeper troll!
Nevertheless, it's good to see someone who still throws out that tired "!Rudy == Hillary" insult get zotted with extreme justice....
Your right to self defence?
Use spell check or you look like a fool. I hate writing one of my brilliant and lengthy posts only to see three misspelled words looking back at me as I push the “post” button.
Just tonight a (rare) liberal friend mentioned that He couldn't vote for Guliani as POTUS because he could not vote for a cross-dresser!
But this isn't about Rudy so much as us.
I have not changed my stance on the issues, nor have I suffered severe mental damage, at least not enough to vote for someone whose historical stance is against virtually all I believe in.
The caveat emptor part really comes in when the selfsame person claims they will appoint "Constitutionalist Judges", uphold the 2nd Amendment (NOT THE RKBA, but the 2nd), etc., etc., etc., and yet they are somehow going to win a crossover liberal vote?
Nope. They might be stupid in lala land, but they ain't dumb. They won't trust him either.
In the end, though those statements meant to placate those who are one-issue voters, (Pick one, I one-issue vote on five or so), but they don't realize these issues aren't something we just want, but that an incorrect stance on any of them is a blackball. It only takes one.
Unreasonable? Perhaps. But if one of the rasins in your pudding is a rabbit turd, it just isn't rasin pudding any more...
“Why would I try to spin it? I already admitted I said it 30 minutes ago.”
Alright, so you do admit you tried to insinuate I was gay and on drugs / drunk because I didn’t agree with you on a thread during the miers nomination.
Glad to get that documented.
I don't bash other Republican presidential candidates. I leave that to you and the other freepers who don't seem to like any of the candidates.
And calling long time freepers liberal trolls because they like a Republican you don't like seems a little foolish to me. I have to wonder what words you would reserve for the Murry Mom's of the world. BTW, I find it fascinating that she's still permitted to post, but some Rudy supporters have been banned.
I’m usually last out and chide them for giving up, but tonight I’ll give them a pass since it’s 5am here on the east coast.
Maybe he’s from england and “defence” is the accepted spelling. ;)
Those Wnglish people have a strange language. I’m sure glad we won the revolutionary war otherwise we’d be stuck speaking their language. I’d hate to have to say “aluminium” all the time.
Rex posted 2-3 posts on this thread, some of them to you directly, as I recall, from freepers who said they’d vote for Hillary.
But keep pretending it didn’t happen.
It doesn't matter if you take the time to type it out, Jim. Under no circumstances will they admit that he is really liberal on any of his positions. They will admit to you that he is generically more liberal on socon issues. But do not try to pin them down on which issues those are. They will not cede even one to you because once they admit out loud that he REALLY is out and out liberal on even one issue, then their whole little Rudy bubble bursts and they can't go on pretending to themselves and us that Rudy isn't really as liberal as we keep showing them he is.
“English” not “Wnglish”. Time for bed!
Great post; thanks for posting it. Not that the facts seem to penetrate.
