Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera had one of the most heated war of words I've ever seen on cable news Thursday.
An illegal immigrant was charged in the drunk driving death of two girls in Virginia Beach recently. Oliver Willis says Geraldo "called out O'Reilly's xenophobia for exactly what it was. This drove Bill O'Reilly insane. I was almost certain he was going to reach across the table and hit Geraldo."
The most vicious part is on YouTube:
A minute later, after O'Reilly abruptly changed the subject because time was running out ("what are you doing on your show this weekend?"), Geraldo said: "I think that one of the wonderful things about our network is that we are fair and balanced."
"People can decide whether you're right or I'm right. And they will decide that I'm right," O'Reilly responded

My brother is a police officer in a city that has a large Hispanic (mostly Mexican) population. The cops joke that they can tell if a Mexican is drunk by what kind of hat he is wearing. If he has a baseball cap on he is working and likely sober, but if he has a cowboy hat on he is partying and likely drunk.
Geraldo is a publicity-seeking moron.
That said, I got to wondering what the opinion would be if a drunk American citizen killed an illegal??? Would it be the illegal's fault for being here? I'm thinking that the blame would fall on the drunk American with a few remarks about the illegal thrown in.

Please don’t blame “greedy” corporations. We are a capitalist country. Our ideals, our freedoms, our ability to be whatever we choose to be is what lured them. Their oppressive, corrupt governments is what drove them away.
The problem is they are running away instead of standing up to their problems. Given the natural resources that Mexico has, there is no reason they couldn’t be a moderately successful democracy where people were thriving and flourishing.
The guy was an ILLEGAL immigrant. He had NO business here. Drunk, the ILLEGAL killed the girl. If the ILLEGAL was not here, this girl would not hav ebeen killed by THIS ILLEGAL.
Whoraldo kept trying to muddy the water - that it was a DRUNK that did it and ILLEGALS have been lured here for years. Lured or not this family didn’t LURE them and they don’t need to BREAK THE LAW to come here to work. ILLEGALS can come the LEGAL way.
Hadn’t seen O’Reilly this worked up in ages. O’Reilly is right. DEPORT THE ILLEGALS. LURE them with EARNED citizenship the way other immigrants have come here - LEGALLY.
Proud of his Puerto Rican heritage? Only later when he realized he could parlay his ethnicity into a TV career. He is a classic self-aggrandizer and fraud.
Not me, I’d egg them on, I’d be the guy on the side yelling “are you gonna let him get away with that?” With a little luck they might actually injure each other enough to end both their careers in front of the camera, I’d be a national hero.
Whether he was illegal or not, with that criminal record, he should have been off the streets period. Then two beautiful American girls would still be alive. But you are correct in saying that multiple agencies failed in their duties.

How is that a ridiculous argument? We provide work for the illegals. We provide free health care. We provide drivers licenses. We provide in-state tuition rates for illegals. We provide citizenship to the children of illegals if they are born here.

Whoraldo’s attempt to gloss over the ILLEGAL status and lump the ILLEGAL into the category of a drunk and IGNORE the ILLEGALS history of DWI is mindbogglingly. Blaming corporations, rather than the INDIVIDUAL, for not pursuing LEGAL citizenship to take advantage of opportunities makes me sick. I am so tired of this mindless idea that people just can't help themselves and when confronted for INDIVIDUAL behavior point to someone else - cooperations - SICKENING.

Look at all the pro-illegal stuff that’s passed in CA and other places. Free health care, instate tuition, drivers licenses. I think there is a certain level of luring there.

Each time Fox has them together, the vehemence escalates...and then it's, "How's your show going?" or some such.
IMO, Fox is just looking for a ratings boost and the cover to say they're being "Fair and Ballanced."
