CHARLESTON, W.Va West Virginia won the National Invitation Tournament title, but its commemorative T-shirts are less than championship material. They contain a misspelling.
The "West Virginia" printed on the shirts players wore after winning the NIT Thursday night is missing the last "i" in "Virginia."
WVU sports information director Shelly Poe blamed the NIT for printing the shirts.

Sign painters and designers can't spell. I've noticed this sort of thing for most of my life.
I used to live in Darlington, SC. For years there was a honky-tonk along the by-pass around town that had, painted on its side, in 5-foot tall letters, "Live Enterment".
A friend of mine from an adjacent county had a small home-repair business. He got a sign-painter to paint his company name on the side of his new pickup, and arrived at our gun club meeting proudly displaying his new sign. I had to point out to him that it read "Easterling Consturction Company".

Still cracks me up every time I watch it.

I stand corrected, the NFL donates the shirts for the wrong teams to an organization called World Vision which distributes them overseas to poor regions.
Defective shirts with accurate* info are sold at discounts and or donated to local charities and shelters.
* _Often when a team moves, ie LA Rams become the St Louis Rams, the legacy shirts, hats etc.. are also similarly distributed.
BTW, for the last few Super Bowls, Reebok licenses the pregame production of exactly 288 hats and 288 shirts for each team, so we're not really talking about great numbers of shirts with the wrong winner.

It would be even better if they left out the "s" in West "Virgina."

The NIT is responsible for those shirts (they print them for both teams). I don't know what's dumber the NIT who didn't double check the work or freepers who can't figure out who's responsible.

If you and your wife get divorced in WVA are you still brother and sister? There is a case before the Wet Virgina Supreme Court on exactly this issue.

Hey, my nephew played his college football as a Mountaineer. He's doing quite well now, as a quarterbacks coach for an indoor football team and running a security company.
