Al Gore forms exploratory committee for '08 run - Promises a "carbon neutral" America

Former Vice-President Al Gore today formed an exploratory committee aimed for a presidential run in '08. He cited a lack of current candidates who are paying significant attention to the problem of Global Warming.

His major policy change, according to a statement released by Mr. Gores campaign, would be for the government to become actively involved in forcing carbon-neutral lifestyles on normal, everyday Americans. "Mr. Gore firmly believes that excessive power consumption releasing unacceptable amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere causes global warming". He will therefore propose legislation that will determine, according to family size, how much power they can use in a year. "Mr. Gore believes American families vacation too much, make too many trips in their cars and use power for unnecessary things like air-conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter".

Anyone consuming more than their alloted share will be charged an additional "carbon tax" on their electric bills that will be used to purchase all carbon credits from Generation Investment Management. Mr. Gores campaign denies this future no bid contract award has anything to do with his being Chaiman of this company. Said a spokesperson, "Generation Investment Management is the premier carbon credit trading company in the world. It's purely coincidence he his the Chairman of the Board. Our friends across the aisle will be sure to make this a campaign issue which is despicable and the highest form of partisan politics"..

You mean we can all live in mansions and use 20 times as much energy per household as we do now? And get it all paid for by a trust fund set up by our daddy, who got his money from the zinc mine in the back yard, owned by Armand Hammer? And we don't have to feel guilty about it because we're buying "carbon credits" from a company we are part owners of?

Count me in!

Does this mean that Gore will have to pay a tax on all the CO2 he emits into the atmosphere by spewing all that hot air?

If Algore indeed formed an exploratory committee, you can bet that CNNABCNBCCBSPBSMSNBC would be all over it. And they would fail to conceal their absolute enthusiasm.

I figured he would end up getting in the race! It is going to be lots of fun watching the DEMS fight each other. Watch for a Gore/Obama ticket now. Yuck!

I think that it would be a good thing for conservatives if Gore were to run on the Green party ticket.

Gore sells carbon offsets -- it's his business -- carbon neutral to him means gazillions in dollars.

Totalitarians are very busy imprinting this whole scheme with a religious and moral code. Most Americans seem too stupid to recognize what's actually happening. Far too many so-called "leaders" in our Congress are either just as stupid or cravenly going along with this "next new thing" which they figure will generate votes for them next election cycle. This is where we've come as a result of the dumbing down of what was once a "republic".
