Dems vote for defeat, plus $124B in pork to its reps.
DEFEAT IN IRAQ Bill!!
Hmmmm, so, those teach-the-RINO-GOP-their-lessons are just lying when they said they stayed at home and they are just blow-harding when they say they are doing it again if the GOP doesn't cow toe to their every demand and give them an unelectable candidate?
...oh, and unlike you I don't get a lot of pleasure in seeing the democrats taking our country to hell in a hand basket. I guess that's the difference in you and I.
-not for our troops either......for all the left's namby-pamby pet causes.
I voted a straight Republican ticket. It made no difference at all.
Why don't you just accept the fact that we were outvoted? The local Republican party would not run unknown, up-and-coming candidates, so the Dem's stole them and they won as the Blue Dogs. Now they're in the House under Nancy's table. The Republicans are behind in new approaches and new candidates, and the Dems outdid us with the people who came to us first!
So don't blame the voter. Blame the ossified Republican Party for their own short-sightedness. It will continue to happen, election after election until the local party leaders start to wise up!
Congressman Billybob
"Any R's in that list of 218 morons?"
Two Republicans crossed. 14 Democrats crossed. 5 didn't vote.
Get those five and the two RINOS back and the RATS lost this. Time to go after all those "Conservative Democrats" who voted for this.
This was money for the troops. Without it they, and we, are done for in Iraq and Afghanistan. But neither can the President sign off on the deadlines and the hoop jumping in the bill. It would destroy the very concepts of "Commander in Chief" and "generals in the field". Standard political and historical "pork analysis" doesn't rule here. This isn't anything like THAT history.
You're probably right. I usually don't blame other FReepers for stuff the enemy does, but I shot off my mouth when I shouldn't have. We have enough problems with them as it is. We gotta stick together. Thanks.
Ha ha-
Take that surrender monkeys!
You should capitilze OUR, so that people know that it's OUR VICTORY and that the Democrats aren't in step with mainstream America.
"Exactly right - Those in the GOP base who stayed home last November (and put domestic issues over the WOT) are just as responsible for the further difficulties, worries and uncertainties our soldiers down range will now face (and continue to face for the next year and a half)."
Very well said! Excellent!
They word it well. They are careful not to expose themselves. Bush needs to keep calling them out.
and two Republicans _ Wayne Gilchrest of Maryland and Walter Jones of North Carolina.
Presumably they voted against because they are against the timeline and want troops out of Iraq immediately...
You are correct sir and they said as much.
When all is said and done, the majority of voters remain essentially isolationist. They don't want a foreign war despite its merits. The Republicans, in the past several years, have let the swing voters slip away (54-39 of swing voters went Dem last November). That's not the Liberals' fault. The Republicans have, since 2003, been simply incompetent in PR.
A victory for the Lib/ Jihad First alliance.
Dems hold 150,000 Troops Hostage in Iraq, details at 11!
