To declare the Brits powerless against Iran is not a snide remark. It is truth. The Brits lack the capability to take on Iran.

There was no attack blatant attack on the US Navy or the Saudi Navy or the Qatar Navy..... The coward chose the only one of the allies incapable of a military response.

The White HOuse says he has been granted a visa. I think he must be too afraid to come here.

"The current ROE are really going to allow our forces to be sucker-punched big time one day."

Well, as I understand it, standard ROE allows for the mother ship to defend her crew - if aware there's even a problem, which is where the confusion is coming in...how far offshore was she standing? - up to the use of warning shots once permission is given, then one last warning, then, if authorized. Authorization can come almost instantaneously from CINCPAC, which the ship would be immediately in touch with. Which is why I said "or new orders".

But DID the Cornwall know? Were the sailors able to contact her? Again, how far away was she standing? If she were too far she might have tried to reach the location, but the incident was over by the time she arrived. This is pure speculation obviously. There's a LOT we don't know.

"Iraqi Deputy PM injured in apparent suicide bomber assassination attempt -- during Friday prayer."

He's a Sunni, isn't he? MIGHT be a reprisal by Sadr. MAYBE.

Looks like it's the Britons' turn to strike first.

We can then join them shortly thereafter.

And we can both quite legitimately say that we did not ask for this.

I was calling you out, not the thread, got it?

What's the real story about your boycott of Bank of America? The word "America" in it?

I don't think the Iranians have the wherewithall to escalate this incident into a full-fledged war with the British.

It's not the Brit's that they want to engage. It is us, and it is intended to be used as a bargaining tool, or better said a hostage exchange to get back some Iranian agents that are being held, (by the Iraqi's, I believe) or have disappeared in Iraq over the last couple of months..

The word hostage, and POW are interchangeable, and this could easily escalate. all you need do, is change the word.

This has not yet escalated, but it has all the signs of doing so. We do have a Cold War going on with Iran. We will have one within 24-36 hours, if Iran does not back out of this.

The difference between a Cold war and a Hot war is only in the amount of expended ordinance.

The already started one. This was an act of war.

Likely an inside job due to how close they got to the Iraqi Vice PM today.
