Times like this I like reciting Mel's Prayer......

—Our Father in Heaven, as we go into battle, every soldier among us will approach you each in his own way, our enemies too, according to their own understanding and will ask for protection and victory, and so we bow before your infinite wisdom. We offer our prayers as best we can. Yes, and one more thing, dear Lord. About our enemies—ignore their heathen prayers and help us blow those little bastards straight to hell. Amen.

Let's hope they wandered into Iraqi waters by mistake.

LOL! Not a chance!

The Iranians interfered in a operation to detain and inspect a Iranian boat that was in Iraqi water. They then compounded the mistake by pretending it was the Brits who were on the wrong water.

Wars have been started for much less.

Refusal of landing rights of an airborne plane leads to what?

I'm thinking all that oil in Iran and not enough on the plane....

Tough luck irony......

Yes, I mean the 15 British marines were caught in Iraqi waters.

"Wars have been started for much less."

Iran ain't gonna start a war over this incident. That's ludicrous! Most likely the soldiers will be interrogated, and if they were not spies they will be released in time.

You've touched the overlooked part- Iran went into Iraqi waters to basically kidnap British soldiers. Iran not only violated Iraqi waters, but they did so in what can be construed as an act of war.

The Iraqi government, in conjunction with the Brits, should be screaming at the top of their lungs.

Bush should recind their presidents visa NOW.

Au contraire.

Detain Ahmmadinejad in a NY jail until the Brits are safely returned.

Exactly!

Additional reporting from the Daily Telegraph:

***....It is not the first time that British servicemen have been taken captive by Iran in the waters between Iran and Iraq.

Six Royal Marines and two Royal Navy sailors were detained in July 2004 after their patrol boats were said to have strayed into the Iranian side of the Shatt al-Arab waterway sailors sparked a tense stand-off.

The men were blindfolded and held for three days during which they were paraded on Iranian TV. ....***

'The question is... Does the UK have any balls?'

"Does the US?

Iran has been blowing up US soldiers in Iraq for 3 years with no retaliation from the US."

Well...notice that the Iranians did not try to take any US soldiers....they know better!! I think AHMANUTJOB should be 'detained' the minute he lands in the US today!!

Ah so its ok to just flagrantly wander into another countries waters, and kidnap foreign soldiers to question them? Ah no. Its not.

Iran must get a big slap down, immediately. If the US had done this, the MSM and UN would be having kittens.

Isn't Imafruitcake headed for New York? If they took American soldiers during a raid into Iraqi territorial waters, thus breaking international law and committing an act of war, I believe it's perfectly legal for his diplomatic immunity to be revoked so he could be arrested and held in reprisal.

I agree that it happens frequently, in fact many a times during a given year.

At the GOE rally, there were idiots wearing shirts and carrying signs that said, 'No war with Iran'. I'd like to ask those people this morning if they still feel the same way. Never mind, I'm sure they do. Idiots and traitors extraordinaire.

Time for Iraq to declare war against Iran.

It would be nice to see some swagger from their new government, but I doubt that they would have enough justification with British troops involved.

But it is possible if the situation escalates and there is a cross border incursion by Iran, deep into Iraqi territory and some Shia are killed, or land seized. (for example)

Iran has made this particular blunder before, and they got away with it. That is now coming back to bite the Brits. I think they might be realizing that fact as we speak.

This would be an excellent time to take out the Iranian Navy.
