I was looking out the window after our Ice/rain/snow storm we had Friday/Saturday. I can't wait for this to melt. Breathing a sigh of relief, Oh how I'm so thankful this week is officially Spring!

It is enjoyable having 4 seasons. Winter just seems to be the longest. Gardening and birding are my love. Each year, I look so forward to spring and all that is to be done.

Recently we have moved. My former yard was filled with gardens and birds. Now, a new beginning. Soon I'll be putting up birdhouses, planting and enjoying the warm sun. This yard is my new palette to create on.
What do you look forward to with Spring?

I thought a poem for this spring thread would be perfect. I searched and searched on the internet and found nothing I truly loved reading. I went to my ping page and saw this posted by NicknamedBob. Beautiful! Thank you so much NicknamedBob :)

Sonnet to Almost Spring

The flowers stir, and stretch their tender shoots,
Awakened by a warmth come softly seeping,
“Rise up!” the call has traced their hidden roots,
To rouse them from their winter’s peaceful sleeping.

The den of slumbers has become,
A din of noisy childish clatter.
Impetuous and impish in its sum,
They split the earth and clamber up its ladder.

Emerging into sunlit air, and softening caresses,
Of nurture at its basest form, the soil on which we stand,
Which all too quickly grips them and compresses,
As night falls much too early in the land.

False spring has lured them out. Cruel season’s dying play,
Receding from the shores of Spring, the Winter ebbs away.

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. —Proverbs 21:23

James, a “pillar in the early church” (Gal. 2:9), recognized the great destructive power and the danger of an uncontrolled tongue. He was not alone. Men and women in many cultures have warned us about the need to guard our speech. This bit of verse by an unknown writer says it well:

“The boneless tongue, so small and weak, can crush and kill,” declared the Greek.

The Persian proverb wisely saith, “A lengthy tongue, an early death.” Sometimes it takes this form instead: “Don’t let your tongue cut off your head.”

While Arab sages this impart: “The tongue’s great storehouse is the heart.”

From Hebrew wit, the maxim’s sprung: “Though feet should slip, don’t let the tongue.”

A verse from Scripture crowns the whole: “Who keeps the tongue doth keep his soul.”

Is it any wonder that James likened the tongue to a little fire that sets a great forest ablaze, or to the very small rudder that turns a mighty ship in a storm? (James 3:4-6).

O Lord, help us to learn a lesson from the wise. Help us to hold our tongue and not let it slip.

There are some silent people
Whose praises should be sung;
They preach a mighty sermon

Wise is the person who knows what to say and when to say it.

Lord, We thank You for those who are serving in our armed forces. Each day they are making brave sacrifices so that our country can remain strong and free. Keep them safe under the shelter of Your wings. And Lord, for their families back home——whose loving support enables our armed forces, to do all that they are called on to do——we ask that You comfort them and give them Your peace...the peace that passes all understanding. Amen

Good morning, neighbor

This will be the first year that I've been able to spend more than a day at the beach for some time. We'll be renting a summer house somewhere in the Outer Banks, but I'm not sure where, yet. Still waiting on the details. I don't plan on doing anything other than laying or walking on the beach, splashing enough water on me to cool off, reading, sleeping and eating! ALL MEALS WILL BE TAKE OUT!

Things over my way are doing ok. How's things been with you?

We haven't been to the beach for several years - we'll rent a house with my wife's extended family - fortunately I get along with them pretty well.

I'm trying to convince my son & his family that live in Florida to join us there. They have three of my grandchildren who I want to see again. Haven't seen them since last summer.

If they can't make it I may see if my mother and father want to go with us. No cost to them except food of course.

I can't wait to hit the lottery so I can buy a place on the ocean!
