The sidewalk was between the Viet Nam War Memorial and Constitution Ave. I worked in the GOE command post most of the day, with brief sorties out for some photos. I took the gauntlet photo a while after the 'bats began their watch. Only saw a handful of stragglers walk the gauntlet.

I can't imagine being a 'bat and walking down that line with those Viet Nam Vets. They are an impressive bunch in a lot of ways. I have an enormous respect for them and an extreme gratitude that they are standing up for the troops now engaged in the War on Terror. Heroes twice!

I believe this is the second photo at the Wall--both very poignant and beautiful.

It's always amazed me that the wall was designed to reflect the viewer who is then looking at himself inside the wall. There truly was an Honor Guard before it today. How proud we are of all of them.
