Dear dodger,

"If he appoints strict-constructionist judges, it really doesn't matter what his personal opinions are (or were). If ...."

For someone who thinks that abortion is a constitutional right, and believes that the government should fund abortions for those who can't afford them otherwise, a "strict constructionist" might be... Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Why would you believe that he would appoint strict constructionist judges? Despite what he may say about some current SC members. I am not aware of anything in his political history that would indicate he would do such a thing.

He should drop the 'R' and run as a 'D'.

Either way, I give him an 'F'

Thank you for finding and posting this. We've already revealed the truth about Giuliani's despicable, radical liberal views by publishing many of his quotes and statements here on Free Republic. The addition of video clips like this is invaluable in our efforts to educate Republicans and conservatives about Giuliani's disgusting idealogy.

When viewing this video, which I notice was added today, 11 March, I saw this one too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld2CGNsAGrc.

Brush that argument off from the 70s?

The effect is the same either way. Either the woman personally kills the baby and sticks it in a dumpster or the abortion doctor does. The baby dies.

There is no solution to infanticide if someone is thus minded. But the government has no right to make us participate in the murder. What they could do, if they were really interested in helping matters, is help the adoption agencies. At least then you would have less of the newborn born live in dumpsters.

Do you honestly believe with a war on terror going on that Rudy is going to be concerned about abortion? As far as I know, he isn't in bed with NARAL, Emily's list or MOVEON.org. They support Hillary.

Yes, I do think Rudy will be concerned with abortion. Even Abe Lincoln, in the darkest days of the civil war, had a domestic policy (homestead act, transcontinental railroad, etc.) and Rudy will have a social policy. He will sign an Executive Order authorizing government agencies to pay for abortions for military servicemembers and the poor, guaranteed.

You don't understand. Those babies MUST be killed. All that remains is to decide who should kill them, and how. Should they be killed clandestinely in back alleys, or proudly in state-of-the-art abortion factories? Those really are the only logical choices. All other possibilities are ruled out, because they don't provide for killing the babies. You seem to be hung up on the antiquated concept that there is an alternative to killing the babies.

..and he hasn't moved away from that position--hence he is an abortion advocate and a social liberal and will not receive support from the overwhelming majority of pro-life catholics, evangelicals, protestants, Jews, and nonreligious folks who see the practice as murder...

Opening Remarks to the N.A.R.A.L. "Champions of Choice" Lunch

The Yale Club, Thursday, April 5th, 2001

As Delivered

Thank you very much for inviting me to say a few words of welcome. This event shows that people of different political parties and different political thinking can unite in support of choice. In doing so, we are upholding a distinguished tradition that began in our city starting with the work of Margaret Sanger and the movement for reproductive freedom that began in the early decades of the 20th century.

As a Republican who supports a woman's right to choose, it is particularly an honor to be here. And I would like to explain, just for one moment, why I believe being in favor of choice is consistent with the philosophy of the Republican Party. In fact, it might be more consistent with the philosophy of the Republican Party. Because the Republican Party stands for the idea that you have to restore more freedom of choice, more opportunity, more opportunity for people to make their own choices rather than the government dictating those choices. Republicans stand for lower taxation because we believe that people can make better choices with their money than the government will make for them, and that ultimately frees the economy and produces more political freedom. We believe that, yes, government is important, but that the private sector is actually more important in solving our problems.

So it is consistent with that philosophy to believe that in the most personal and difficult choices that a woman has to make with regard to a pregnancy, those choices should be made based on that person's conscience and that person's way of thinking and feeling. The government shouldn't dictate that choice by making it a crime or making it illegal.

I think that's actually a much more consistent position. Many Republicans support that position, but you don't hear that as often. For example, in a recent poll by American Viewpoint, 65 percent of Republicans supported changing the plank in the Republican platform that calls for a constitutional ban on abortion. That's 6.5 out of every 10 Republicans. And over 80 percent of Republicans believe that the decision with regard to an abortion should be made by a woman, her doctor, and her family rather than dictated by the government.

[Applause]

In any case, I just wanted you to know that many of my fellow Republicans stand with you on this issue. So I thank you, I thank NARAL for taking the lead in establishing freedom of choice for all of us, and as the Mayor of New York City, I thank you for being here in New York City.

I have also stated that I disagree with President Bush's veto last week of public funding for abortion. " - Rudy Giuliani quote, 11/3/89

Rudy is not just "pro-abortion." Rudy is joined at the hip to the most radical pro-abortion elements---NARAL, Planned Parenthood, and the rest of the abortion-on-demand-with-the-govt-picking-up-the-tab crowd.

A LOOK AT RUDY'S RADICAL PRO-ABORT PAST IS A GLIMPSE INTO THE FUTURE

Giuliani used his Mayoral term to advance abortion EVEN THOUGH, AS MAYOR, HE HAD NO LEGISLATIVE OR OFFICIAL MANDATE TO DO DO SO.

From the FEC database: 04/24/1999 Donations
NEW YORK STATE NARAL INC WOMEN'S HEALTH PAC

NARAL donated exclusively to Democrat candidates with one exception----Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani accepted $1,000 from NARAL in 1999. NARAL gave $250 to Hillary Rodham Clinton. NARAL gave $1000---4 times as much-----to pro-abortion Giuliani.

Clearly, NARAL trusted Rudy's pro-abortion credentials, and Rudy's willingness to advance NARAL's radical abortion-on-demand agenda. NARAL Honored Mayor Rudy for his efforts---he was the honored guest speaker and made The Opening Remarks at NARAL's "Champions of Choice" Luncheon. He has also publicly praised eugenecist Margaret Sanger (PP founder)

In a CNN interview, Giuliani indicated he does not support even a modest ban on the gruesome partial-birth abortion procedure saying, "No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing." Giuliani also indicated he would have upheld President Clinton's veto of the partial-birth abortion ban.

Mayor Rudy told Phil Donahue he'd give his daughter the money for an abortion (to get rid of his own grandchild).

--------------------------------------------------------

The pro-abort savages have commenced the killing of the innocents----who knows where it will end, with a radical pro-abort type like Rudy handling the levers of government, and NARAL whispering in his ear?

Last week, Bill Simon, a Rudy campaign worker, assured National Review that Rudy supports the Hyde Amendement, the federal law that bans federal funds for abortion services. The Hyde Amendement can't be overturned by executive order. It needs to be approved by Congress to do that. Back in 1993, Bill Clinton lobbied hard his Dem Congress to repeal the Hyde Amendement. Clinton failed.

Below is the link showing an assurance from the Rudy camp about support for the Hyde Amendement. Believe or disbelieve it at your pleasure.

Rudy Giuliani Supports Partial Birth Abortion. Don't Support Rudy Giuliani.

[GEORGE] WILL: Is your support of partial birth abortion firm?
Mayor GIULIANI: All of my positions are firm. I have strong viewpoints. I express them. And I--I do not think that it makes sense to be changing your position....
ABC News February 6, 2000

TUCHMAN: Giuliani was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions, something Bush strongly supports.
GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.
- CNN December 2, 1999

BLITZER: If you were in the Senate and [President Clinton] vetoed, once again, the [ban on the] so-called partial-birth abortion procedure, you would vote against sustaining that against the -- in favor of the veto in other words, you would support the president on that.
GIULIANI: Yes. I said then that I support him, so I have no reason to change my mind about it.
BLITZER: All right. So the bottom line is that on a lot of these very sensitive issues whether on guns, abortion, patients' bill of rights, taxes, you are more in line with the president and by association, with Mrs. Clinton, than you are against them.
- CNN February 6, 2000

MR. RUSSERT: A banning of late-term abortions, so-called partial-birth abortions--you're against that?

MAYOR GIULIANI: I'm against it in New York, because in New York...

MR. RUSSERT: Well, if you were a senator, would you vote with the president or against the president? [Note: President Clinton was in office in 2000]

MAYOR GIULIANI: I would vote to preserve the option for women. I think that choice is a very difficult one. It's a very, very--it's one in which people of conscious have very, very different opinions. I think the better thing for America to do is to leave that choice to the woman, because it affects her probably more than anyone else....

MR. RUSSERT: So you won't change your view on late-term abortion in order to get the Conservative Party endorsement?

MAYOR GIULIANI: It isn't just that. We shouldn't limit this to one issue. I'm generally not going to change my views
- NBC Meet the Press, February 6, 2000

***Note: the version of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban that Giuliani opposed in 2000, that he said he supported Bill Clinton in vetoing the Republican-controlled Congress's legislation, contained the exception for the life of the mother that Rudy is now trying to pretend is a prerequisite for his support of it.

From highly sensitive internal Giuliani campaign document, 1993:

Simplicity is the best response to questions about abortion. Giuliani's answer to abortion questions should always be succinct and to the point. Giuliani is pro-choice. He supports public funding for abortion. He will continue city funding for abortions at city hospitals. Nothing more, nothing less.
