Vieira: Gore 'Definitely Coolest Guy in the Room'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Has an MSM campaign for an Al Gore presidential run officially begun?

This morning's "Today" devoted a big six-minute segment to the prospect of a Gore candidacy. Andrea Mitchell declared Al "suddenly cool." Not bad, but not close to Meredith Vieira, who proclaimed that Gore was "definitely the coolest guy in the room" at the Oscars. I didn't watch a minute of it, but thought I'd check the nominee list to see just who else was in that room. In addition to many un-nominated stars who were surely floating around, here are just some of the nominees in the house that Meredith found didn't measure up to Al: Leonardo DiCaprio, Peter O'Toole, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy and Mark Wahlberg.

Perhaps all you need to know about Al is that Jimmy Carter is a big fan. Carter popped up in a video clip to remind Gore that he "could do infinitely more as incumbent of the White House than he can as a maker of movies, even ones that get Oscars."

View video here.

Tim Russert sketched out a scenario in which Gore might jump into the race as late as November if the current Dem field falters. When Vieira raised the question of whether Gore is resented by some Dems who accuse him of having been a boring candidate who in 2000 lost a race he should have won, Russert countered, describing Gore as "universally acclaimed throughout the Dem party and large parts of the world."

Perhaps the most telling insight into Gore's fitness as Commander-in-Chief was this revelation by Russert: "One of his best friends told me that he realize doesn't relish having to run against Hillary Clinton." If Al's afraid of taking on a 60-year old lady in a pantsuit, is he really ready to take on America's enemies? Then again, some might say that if he can defeat Hillary, other foes might seem like child's play.

Attack of the Calving Glaciers Update:
Readers might recall that one of my pet peeves is the use of footage of calving glaciers as evidence of global warming. It is the growth of glaciers that cause them to calve, so if anything calving is a sign of cooling. But guess what turned up in the segment on Gore this morning? Yup.

I think that says more about the Hollywood trash that attended that narcissistic self-love fest than it says about the somewhat stupid Stalinist Al Gore.

Think of the tur* that floats to the top of the commode bowl. I see nothing there to be proud of.

Whatever he's evolved into, he's not narcissistic, elitist or hypocritical.

You still haven't heard it from a thinking human being.

Meredith and thinking don't belong in the same sentence either.

One does not usually consider a broom closet a room.

"A world turned upside down."

If dull, aging, overweight white men are suddenly becoming cool, I'm not going to do anything to dispel that myth. I might get some action if this catches on.

As for Wahlberg, he started out his career as a rapper. Back then he was "Marky Mark"...more info here.

His brother Donnie, was formerly with New Kids on the Block, but he's actually turned into a pretty good actor, especially in "Band of Brothers" and "The Sixth Sense."

Viera's nuts. I think it was yesterday she said when she watches the Academy Awards, she 'play acts' at home and literally recites her acceptance speech, etc. Matt looked at her like she was suddenly off her meds and he moved on trying not to comment. She is a fruit loop.

Looks like THEY are cooled about Hillary candidacy, doesn't it? Shows they're really hurting when they think Algore is 'the man'. (Think I could sell them that bridge I own? LOL)

The enviro's and msm are now referring to it as "climate change" rather than "global warming." You heard it here first!
