Has an MSM campaign for an Al Gore presidential run officially begun?
This morning's "Today" devoted a big six-minute segment to the prospect of a Gore candidacy. Andrea Mitchell declared Al "suddenly cool." Not bad, but not close to Meredith Vieira, who proclaimed that Gore was "definitely the coolest guy in the room" at the Oscars. I didn't watch a minute of it, but thought I'd check the nominee list to see just who else was in that room. In addition to many un-nominated stars who were surely floating around, here are just some of the nominees in the house that Meredith found didn't measure up to Al: Leonardo DiCaprio, Peter O'Toole, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy and Mark Wahlberg.
Perhaps all you need to know about Al is that Jimmy Carter is a big fan. Carter popped up in a video clip to remind Gore that he "could do infinitely more as incumbent of the White House than he can as a maker of movies, even ones that get Oscars."

Tim Russert sketched out a scenario in which Gore might jump into the race as late as November if the current Dem field falters. When Vieira raised the question of whether Gore is resented by some Dems who accuse him of having been a boring candidate who in 2000 lost a race he should have won, Russert countered, describing Gore as "universally acclaimed throughout the Dem party and large parts of the world."
Perhaps the most telling insight into Gore's fitness as Commander-in-Chief was this revelation by Russert: "One of his best friends told me that he realize doesn't relish having to run against Hillary Clinton." If Al's afraid of taking on a 60-year old lady in a pantsuit, is he really ready to take on America's enemies? Then again, some might say that if he can defeat Hillary, other foes might seem like child's play.
Attack of the Calving Glaciers Update: Readers might recall that one of my pet peeves is the use of footage of calving glaciers as evidence of global warming. It is the growth of glaciers that cause them to calve, so if anything calving is a sign of cooling. But guess what turned up in the segment on Gore this morning? Yup.

Al Gore "coolest guy in room"
BWWAHAGAAAGG
Ms. Veiria must have bumped her head that morning....
Doesn't say much for the room, does it?
Algore and Jimmuh Cahtah.
Sir, I could have gone the day without them. My breakfast is churning in my stomach. LOL
Hmmm. Let me ponder this. Al Gore is cold. I am so surprised.
Really. Just shocked.
Exactly.
Wahlberg? I don't know anything about him, but the way he seems to carry himself, he's probably the coolest out of all those mentioned.
It's the globalwarming, doncha'know.
snort
That ain't saying much.
I thought they already made a movie about Gore. "Cool Hand Dupe."
All hail the Goracle. The Goracle speaks no truth.
I think they should throw the whale back before he stinks up the beach.
I watched a show off my TIVO yesterday, it was on the History channel, The Little Ice Age. Recommended viewing for all global warming worshipers. It showed the Vikings getting booted off Greenland by the little ice age. England used to grow great grapes, better than French vineyards, until it got too cold. Does England have a grape crop yet?
Good viewing, history is your friend.
JUMP AL JUMP IN!!! We need the COMIC relief!! Whata BUFFOON!! he is NEVER running again.
Gore was the coolest guy in the room?
Where was he, at a Revenge of the Nerds reunion?
