When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following:
2/7/7 | unknown

Things that make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.

In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following:

a. FDR led us into World War II.

b. Germany never attacked us ; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ... an average of 112,500 per year.

c. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea North Korea never attacked us .. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ... an average of 18,334 per year.

d John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

e. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost .. an average of 5,800 per year.

f. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us . He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

But Wait

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation..

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB ! The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts

(I checked this out on Snopes, and it's true)

But Wait, There's more!

WHAT JOHN GLENN SAID

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR) Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a l iving. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn): "How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): "I served 23 years in the United StatesMarine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me .. . as I went the other day... to a veteran's hospital and look those men ... with their mangled bodies . in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Or phans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee.. and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags.

You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

For those who don't remember During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA.

Now he's a Senator!

What do Iraq and Detroit have in common except the rough number of Americans killed?

First, one could argue that that's exactly the point. People keep hearing about casualties day after day, and because our schools have been dumbed down so far, they have no concept at all of the number of dead military operations usually involve. So it is a very powerful to be able to remind someone that these numbers are similar.

Second, American cities (especially those without those pesky handguns!) are supposed to be safe, and war zones are obviously very dangerous. If the people killed in one is even remotely comparable to the other, something is very wrong.

Interesting points. The bottom line is we are really losing very few American soldiers in this war comparative to any other war/conflict we have been in, yet I meet so many young people whose history lessons in school were so bad and the take on the news is so biased is they believe we are in another Vietnam, and with losses comparable to Korea and WWII. When I give the the numbers they are shocked.

I am getting various numbers. I can settle on over 600,000 wounded and around 300,000 dead. I have seen the dead number over 400,000 but the wounded number I find is roughly the same.

Still a mute point when compared to the four years we have been in the heart of the ME. Where they hate my guts and burn my flag. I just wished they would wrap themselves in my flag before they burn it.

I'd say a Declaration of War is comparable to an attack.

I agree.

Too bad Clinton didn't.

I'm tired of being polite with commies.

Commies have normalphobia, Individualphobia, Godphobia, Gunphobia, lifephobia. Don't worry about not being polite. They are already disturbed. And let me tell you this, all their phobias gives me Hollywoodphobia and Post Traumatic Demoratic Party Stress Disorder (PTDPSD).

it was dreadful to watch Clinton do nothing as we were being attacked on numberous occations.

Plus cut our Military and Intel. And if my memory serves me right, he passed a law regarding the FBI, CIA, and NSA communications (or lack thereof).

Anything to make America look bad. That is what the Bommie Castards wish to do. So, don't let it surprise you in the future.

Here's a better question to ask a leftist:

If the government of Iraq had sponsored an act of terrorism on American Soil with significant loss of innocent life, would that justify a war to remove that government?

They did, in Oklahoma City.

I am going to get this book. Have you read it?

After the bombing, didn't we have some ME men held at some airports? Also, if my memory serves me well, GB held somebody for a while too.

Have you read it?

No, but I've read a ton of information that's in it while it was being compiled. A lot of it was posted here on FR.

What irks me is the way the Reno DOJ coverup wasn't pursued when GWB took office. Same with TWA 800.

We have far fewer car bombs exploding in Detroit though. And hardly any death squads.

The point is we are in a war zone. A place where car bombs are going off. The media would have you believe that the war is going to heck in a hand basket. And if that is the case, the media should have you believe that Detroit is going to heck in a hand basket too.

I ask you, what do you think our MSM (Main Stream Media - aka LSM - Lame Stream Media) would say after two and a half days on Iwo Jima? 2,500 Marines and Sailors gave their lives in 2.5 days of fighting on Iwo Jima.

What would our media say after Antietam, where 22,000 Soldiers gave their lives (12,000 Yankees and 10,000 Rebels)? The point is our Troops are doing a great job in Iraq. And tuff times don't last. Tuff people do.

I have not and will not waver, tire, falter, or fail. Peace and Freedom will prevail.

God Bless George W Bush and the Nation he leads.

b. Germany never attacked us ; Japan did.

Germany declared war on us. Iraq didn't/ Not that I oppose the invasion of Iraq, but a lot of your points are faulty. Also, don't downplay the 3000 American dead. They don't deserve to be downplayed. 3000 people died on 9-11 and nobody tries to belittle that number, so don't belittle the number of American dead in Iraq. Their sacrifice served a noble cause - but that's a lot of American dead and I for one won't hear anyone say it isn't/

It would be interesting to know what Bush would have been told. If he was told that there could have been a connection with the ME, he should order a investigation now.

Please excuse me. I do not wish to give the impression that you have.

To tell the truth, I would have rather died on a battle field then of old age. My life now means what? To have died on a battle field, I know I would have proudly given my life for a someones freedom.

But I want you to know this:

the people who sacrifice are not the Warriors. The people who sacrifice are the mother, father, brothers, sisters, wife, daughter, son, grandparents, and friends. I am saying that the ones who give the ultimate gift to freedom is the family.

And in most all cases, the true warrior knows his job and gladly does it. He gladly does it not because he likes it, but because of his brothers and sisters.

May God Bless all of our intrepid warriors.
