I'm probably a little long in the tooth to be your "son", and I'm definitely too long in the tooth to start a career in politics, which is what it takes to get to the top. Further, I would tell people the truth, and that isn't something that wins elections.
If you are happy with the slate of candidates, good for you.

I cannot see Pennsylvania or Michigan going for Guliani on your list. There is too much fraud. Throw in that in the next election the Ds are in a better position to steal Florida and Ohio, and thinks look worrisome for whichever candidate wins the primary.

I think Hillary would win Arkansas, Missouri and possibly Montana, Colorado and Florida against Rudy. Montana and Florida are certainly wacko predictions that violate the CW, but I have my suspicions.

If the nominee is Tancredo, Hillary wins every state except Idaho and Utah. Hey, I've got a great idea, let's nominate the worst candidate we possibly can!

Missouri, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina are all in play the moment we nominate a liberal. The only state on your list I see as even a remote possibility is Jersey.

The notion that if we only nominate the most liberal candidate in the party's history we'll be able to pick off blue states is probably the most short-sighted, foolish bit of strategery I've ever heard. Democrats will vote Democratic, no matter how much we try to appease them with our nominee.

There is a certain reality that people have to face, no matter what you think of a candidate's stands on the issues:

we are in a celebrity culture. Until or unless Duncan Hunter somehow turns himself into a celebrity, he's NOT going to get mentioned, and because he doesn't get mentioned, he won't poll at all.

A second reality is anyone who isn't being mentioned in the polls absolutely will not win a primary.

Now, people here keep jumping all over me because I point out this reality, like gravity. Ignoring it doesn't change it. When you have large segments of the U.S. public who can't even name the VICE PRESIDENT, they sure aren't going to be "excited" about a congressman they've never heard of.

Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush understood this by starting two years out lining up governors, making the rounds and making a national name. Both Rudy and McLame have done this for three years, McClame by dissing Bush and getting fawning media treatment, and Rudy by playing on his 9/11 actions.

I'll vote for Hunter over Newt, Newt over Rudy.

But in the end, you better be prepared for Rudy or McLame to be the nominee. (Cue all the people who say, "I won't vote then." Then cue the Hillary inauguration music).
