Ann Coulter analyzes GOP Presidential hopefuls:
---Rudy Giuliani:
"I Think He's The Only Republican Who Can't Beat Hillary."
"I don't see him winning the Primary."
"If you can't get MY vote as a Republican against Hillary....."
---John McCain:
"Not a Conservative, but a patriot."
"A genuine war hero, unlike John Kerry."
"His weaknesses are half of his positions."
---Mitt Romney:
"Red stater in a blue state."
"Has a working knowledge of God."
---Newt Gingrich:
"Absolutely brilliant."
"His closet has certainly been thoroughly investigated already."
"I wish we could bring him in to pinch-hit for all presidential debates."

Tony's great...love the guy....but...
The White House has done a terrible job at communicating the conservative position on the critical questions of our time: Iraq, Islamo-fascism, Social Security, Health Care, Energy, etc.
To the extent a Presidential Press Sec'ty can affect that communication process, Tony has failed.
Net: Conservatives have the right positions - we don't hae a salesman worthy of the name.
Well, he won't in the Primary, because he ain't stupid. But in the General, he'll exhibit social positions well to the left of Hillary Clinton. That'll mix things up a bit!
Only in New York is Rudy Giuliani considered a Conservative. Bleh.
""I absolutely agree!!! Newt would be great in a debate setting. He's head and shoulders above ANY democrat."'
Oh definitely, and those debates have been so decisive since 2000 havent they. My guess is he'd be like Jack Kemp and wouldnt shut up and come accross like a egg head
Given that there is no one GOP hopefull that satisfies both the conservative and moderate/Rino wings of the party, I fear that the DemocRats are assured of a White House victory in 2008. The GOP will likely spawn a third party and it will be all over except for the coronation
of the Rat candidate.
A rhetorical question to all. Has the political thought process of the nation shifted so far to the left and middle that Barry Goldwater type conservatism can no longer
win a national election?
As to Ann Coulter, she is entitled to her opinions,
but does she really have any influnce with the power
structure or voting base of the GOP ?
IMO, Rudy will mop up the floor with Her Thighness and get laughs while doing it. Compared to Rudy, Hill will look like a wooden indian (and that's an improvement).
You're damned right they've been decisive. George Bush won the debates and won both races. Had he looked as bad as the democrats expected he'd be in Crawford full time.
One pundit recently said: Which state is Hillary going to lose that Kerry won?
Republicans need to wrap their minds around that. Whomever the Dem nominee is, 08 is going to be a rough race. If the GOP can't muster a viable candidate (shades of 1996), they are going to lose the White House.
That whole thing you are making up smells. Rudy did not opt for the same treatment as Kerry. Kerry went for the operation - Rudy did this radical new treatment which made him sick as a dog. BIG DIFFERENCE.
I think we just have a dearth of candidates this year, that's all. Only two Governors are running for President (Romney and Huckabee) the first is a "former" (as in six month ago) liberal who gave his state HillaryCare and the other is a tax raiser. Any other year, they'd be second-tier candidates. I don't think it's anything permanent, but I do think there's a bit of leadership vacuum in the GOP of late.
Rudy would not have lost...as it was she beat the hapless Lazio 54-46 while Gore beat Bush 66-33...
I can see the GOP is headed for a defeat of historical proportions in 2008 thanks to the purists....if both McCain and Rmoney are acceptable to Ann Coulter but unacceptable to FR, well it says quite a bit about what FR has become.
It wasn't the Republican voters who stayed home who cost the 2006 election.
It was the 'moderate' who decided that fighting in Iraq just wasn't worth it any more.
Rudy will go soft just like the rest of them.
Ann's wrong on this. If Rudy is the nominee against the risky Hillary or Obama choice, he will appeal to the nation as the safe bet, the experienced no-nonsense manager, the law-and-order, security-first choice.
He will appeal very much to moderate swing voters, more than any other GOP candidate, and that will greatly outnumber the few angry conservatives who will stay home in protest.
He will also bring the northeast into play, particularly NY and NJ.
Ann's blowing smoke here. Disagree with Rudy and promote others, sure, but don't claim he can't win... electorally, he's far and away the most dynamic of the field so far.
You are right on the mark. I suppose I'd hold my nose and vote for Rudy but many Conservatives would just stay home. I so despise McCain I would stay home, at least with Rudy you know what your getting. Who knows what the emotionally unbalanced (IMHO) hot tempered waffler would do.
You pinged?
Rino Mitt?
Mitt had to be "flexible" to win in MA but maybe he's OK running as a real Republican. His positions now sound OK to me and he is a charming guy with a nice family - good things to get the "moderates" onboard.
She was well ahead in the polls and in fundraising when he dropped out. She would have beat him by the same margin she beat Lazio. Hillary never had to attack Lazio -- she would have absolutely trounced Rudy by beating him with his own record (and skeletons).
