Two New Books Confirm Global Warming is Natural; Not Caused By Human Activity Tue Jan 30 2007 10:02:32 ET
Two powerful new books say todays global warming is due not to human activity but primarily to a long, moderate solar-linked cycle. Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1500 Years, by physicist Fred Singer and economist Dennis Avery was released just before Christmas. The Chilling Stars: A New Theory of Climate Change, by Danish physicist Henrik Svensmark and former BBC science writer Nigel Calder (Icon Books), is due out in March. --- break --- Unstoppable Global Warming documents the reality of a moderate, natural, 1500-year climate cycle on the earth. The Chilling Stars explains the why and how.

I heard Fred Singer being interviewed on a local talker. He's very good. I've been meaning to pick up his book. I think I'll do that tonight.
Maybe I can find a replay on line of the interview. I'll check.......

Singer's book will be dismissed by the greens because they say he's a shill for the oil industry. Don't know about the other guy.
Don't tell Algore.
Maybe Algore would want to debate this man. Maybe he will use his powerful brain to prove that he is the smartest man in the world. He did invent the internet you know.
Apparently God is still in charge, no?
Its not nice to fool Mother Nature, by the way.
(hat tip to Chiffon)
already knew it was not caused by man's industrial involvement.
If that's true, we'll have to find another way to funnel wealth into third-world countries. I hope the socialists have a backup plan!
(something tells me they do)
PING for good news!!
For how many decades have we had celebrities paraded infront of us telling us we only have 10 years to do X or we are all gonna die?
"Not caused by human activity" bump
I didn't know about Svensmark until recently either, but his stuff is backed by experimental proof that cosmic ray tracks are important to cloud formation (a cooling effect).
Solar magnetism changes (the 1500 year cycle overlaid with the better known 11 year cycle) change the degree to which the earth is shielded from cosmic rays. Increasing solar magnetism leads to less cloud formation, leads to warmer climate. Svensmark estimates this effect alone can explain 85% of the change in average global temperature over the last 70 years. (And I'm not sure whether he includes in that a model for naturally occuring greenhouse gasses which geologically trail warmer temperatures as CO_2 cooks out of the oceans and methane comes out of thawing bogs and methane-hydrates.)
Add to that the evidence of increased solar output (from Mars, Triton and Pluto) and it's looks to me like a slam-dunk that the models 'proving' human induced global warming are a great example of GIGO.
"KT Tunstall said growing up in Scotland and seeing the effect of climate change to the coastline there spurred her into action."
She is such a keen observer - and such scientific insight for an "artist". Art, science - its all the same, right?
bump a dilly
I fail to understand why it is "good" news to find that we have no influence over a changing climate. It seems to me that "good" news would be that we've found a way to dampen the global climate changes.
as discussed on coast-to-coast (operators are standing by to take your orders!)
