Just heard at the top of the hour. Nifong is recusing himself from the Duke Case as prosecutor.
Huh? What's this about? What did Nifong lie about in reference to the letter he sent to the AG?
How do we know it wasn't a planned leak by Cooper's office? Late Friday afternoon before a holiday? I view it as Cooper letting Nifong off the hook from having to tell the defense or the press himself about it.
Anyone check the recordings on his primary dwelling lately? Is is litigation proof?

First: Holloway is a dumbass.
Second: All parents who intend to send their children to these "Ivy League" schools should be asking the hard questions about the intelligence and qualifications of the professors, and of the classes their students are going to be required to endure to cater to the egos of the "Hate men, hate whitey" crowd.
It sure does for this one.
I read that earlier. I'm sure you've heard that Duke has been whining that the Gang of 88 has been on the receiving end of some nasty e-mails. I don't doubt that is true, and at a press conference Karla Hollaway produced excerpts from Mrs. Dowd's e-mail to make the point. Mrs. Dowd asked the N&O to print the entirety of the exchange because Duke took some sentences out of context, and Holloway's response to be seen in proper context as well. Dowd's e-mail is tough and on occasion personal but certainly not evidence of the "vile, racist, sexist" e-mails Duke represented them to be. Ironically, Mrs. Dowd was the parent that Houston Baker wrote an e-mail to referring to her children as "farm animals" and prclamation of their innocence as "LIES." These people and Duke have the unmitigated gall to complain when folks return fire. Pampered and haughty, and the real embarrassment is that these folks are teaching at Duke. Every time they open their mouths, my Duke degree is worth slightly less.
It reminded me of when Nifong leaked Ryan McFayden's e-mail in the spring. It was taken totally out of context, and had nothing to do with the case but was solely designed to embarrass and humiliate. Duke did the same thing here. Why Duke is so obssessed with making lacrosse players and their families look bad in public to this day is beyond me. There does not seem to be a point except to placate some radical faculty.
KCJ did a post about this. His point was that what I call the grievance studies departments are devoid of majors and exist solely for affirmative action hires. Everyone knows what those departments are and avoids them.
Reportedly Nifong has zero assets and everything is in wife's name.
Why doesn't that surprise me.
Nifong was asked by media about whether he was requesting to recuse himself at 5:30 local time. He denied it. The AG office told ABC about it prior to 5 pm, because ABC broke the story on the 5:00 news. Then the local newspeople reported the story at 6 pm local time.
The news on the local TV stations says that defense attorney for Finnerty sent the subpoena to Nifong's office to be served.
I'm thinking more about DUKE and/or the "group of 88" more than Nifong. There are likely some media outlets that they could look at ala Richard Jewel as far as litigation but I think the school has the big problem.
So where is this going? Who's gonna take this case? This is a stinkbomb that nobody wants dropped in their lap.
Unfortunately, there is insufficient integrity in the Educational System to defund or eliminate these University or College level piles of manure masquerading as "education."

Note - I don't know her but she is an English major who works at NCSU trying to clean up some of the technical writing of certain people.
I once got on her case because she had made a post that appeared to say that those people getting a technical degree didn't have a "life of the mind".
Someone leaked that she was there.

It appears not to have been a "leak" from the AG's office, but a quiet email sent late on a Friday before a holiday, all of which benefits Nifong.
The request will be reviewed SATURDAY, which is unusual.
Watch for the AG to agree to the request based on giving the prosecution's case a fair trial inasmuch as Nifong is under bar review for this very case which would damage its presentation to a jury. This would spin it away from being beneficial to the defense's case even though the defense filed to have Nifong removed long ago and again recently.
By requesting the AG do it, Nifong dodges being kicked off the case by the judge which would make him look much worse, particularly to the state bar, than him requesting the AG do it.
