KISMAYO, Somalia Dec 31, 2006 (AP)— Islamic fighters abandoned the last major town they held early Monday and were seen heading south toward the Kenyan border while government forces approached slowly because of land mines, residents and the government spokesman said.
The Islamic forces began to disintegrate after a night of artillery attacks at the front line and following a mutiny within its ranks, witnesses said. Government spokesman Abdirahman Dinari said he had information that Islamic forces were moving south toward the Kenyan border.

The Kenyans did that, plus, the U.S. has naval and air assets off of Somalia's coast to prevent a sea or air rescue.
This means that jihadis have to explain (to fund-raisers and potential new recruits) why they lost Afghanistan, can't start any trouble inside Israel-proper, lost Libya without a fight, and got creamed in Somalia (the birthplace of Al Qaeda - re: Blackhawk Down).
Those aren't exactly signs of Allah's blessings on them...

About time someone defeated these murderers. I wonder if our military could learn a thing or two from this?
I don't care how bad the Ethiopians are, they can't be half as bad as the damn Islamists.
I don't understand how people feel the need to find fault only with their own side of things, but give their opponents a pass. As far as I am concerned, holding everybody to the same standard is the true measure of enlightenment. This notion that other cultures can only be held to a lower standard is thinly disguised racism.
These Islamists are nothing but punks. When faced with determined opposition, they run like yellow-bellied skunks.
If we showed national unity on the War in Iraq, it would have all been over two years ago. It is only because the Islamist punks think they can split us that the war has gone on so long.

The Lamu area near the border of Kenya and Somalia is an Islamic stronghold. I know this because when every other community of Kenya was provided with clean water and basic sanitation, Lamu was still suffering from easily preventable water-borne diseases.
The Islamists never create. They can only destroy. If you find a backwater in the World, bereft of the benefits of modern science and public health, you know you have found an Islamist hell-hole.
