A Chicago man was sentenced to 2 years in prison Thursday for illegally accessing the Web site of a conservative political activist group and downloading the credit-card numbers of thousands of its members.
Jeremy Hammond plotted to use the credit cards to make donations to humanitarian and charity groups opposed by the Protest Warrior Web site into which he hacked, but he changed his mind, according to court records.

His father is as bad as he is. What kind of creep publicly defends his son for crimes?

LOL Just Damn!
Not that I was an idiot when I was 19, or anything like that.
Protest Warriors have my CC#
Now I'm pisssed.
This judge Zagel is an idiot. He clearly does not understand what Hammond did. He should have been given a much harsher sentence.
He'll be up for parole in eight months, less if he served jail time for which he will receive credit. They should lock him up longer than that for claiming to be a hacker. Always work through proxies and always delete the server logs. Otherwise you'll end up with a wrist slap like this idiot got.
There is NO parole in the federal system.
He'll do at least 85% of his sentence.
The rest he can get chipped off as "good time" if he behaves himself in lock-up.
You're right, and thanks for correcting me. I forgot they had eliminated that. It used to be 1\3 for first offenders.
I wish they had given him 10 to 15 but I guess two years with Bubba will work. Maybe his liberal Commie pals will ship him care packages with tubes of KY in them.
I was in Vietnam when I was 19 and I do not think I was an idiot.
Yeah...I know what you mean.
When I was 19 I had been in the Navy for a year and I was on my first WESTPAC deployment to the Persian Gulf.
I hope I wasn't an idiot, as per the judge.
Is it true that blondes have more fun in prison?
I spent my 19th birthday at MCRD, San Diego. I was having doubts about the wisdom of this at the time...
One who has enabled his son for years is my guess, and made plenty of excuses for him all his life.
He'll be on the prison football team, from tight end to wide receiver.
BTTT
I really like the new Free Jeremy page - http://www.freejeremy.com
But seriously, he's likely going to spend his time in solitary when his fellow inmates find out about his days of snitching to the police for reduced sentencing by supplying the DA with videotape and names of accomplices, and he'll have no love from the guards when they learn about his charges for assaulting a Chicago Police officer with a beer bottle, or his comment about the sitting VP at Defcon.

(Watch the video whole video!)
You really have to wonder about someone that not even the local Chicago anarchists and hacker community want anything to do with him.

He'll be walking funny in more ways than one for the whole stretch...
Can the State of Illinois bring charges against him??? There's got to be some sort of state law that he broke. It is the only way we can keep him in prison for a long time.
