-snip-
Dramatic new details of the deadly mayhem include the undercover cop at one point climbing onto the hood of Bell's car - his gun drawn and his police shield around his neck - screaming, "Police! Turn off your car! Let me see your hands!" said sources who talked to some of the cops involved in the shooting.
When Bell then tried to run down the plainclothes officer - twice - the cop began shooting, with some of his 11 bullets piercing the rear window of the man's Nissan Altima, the sources said. -snip-

Sharpton will be deeply saddened.

Shrapnel and his ilk always show up when stuff like this happens. But when a perp shoots a cop, he could care less. He's an extremely annoying individual.

(1) The "cops are out-of-control 'JBTs'" crowd will soon swarm any thread on this topic, parroting Al Sharpton's talking points.
(2) Most normal people realize that if you try to run a cop over with your car you are begging to be shot.

AAAAH! a little more information. The NYP gives some details that NYT deems irrelevant or harmful to the story.

The cops mowed down some guy who was unarmed and you're editorializing the title. While Shrapton et. al., will have a field day with this, but all evidence points to it being the cop's fault.

I heard over 50 rounds fired - doesn't anyone check during re-loads to see what is the status of the target?

Wow! I didn't hear that. That is overkill for sure! You shoot to incapicitate, not mutilate.

Happy Anniversary Al & Tawana!
Many happy returns, you two.

You shoot to incapicitate, not mutilate.I think they are trained to shoot to kill, but maybe I'm wrong. You incapacitate with a stun gun.

What's the charge for trying to run someone over with your car? Like, if I was driving along and saw a cop on the sidewalk, and I tried to hit him? Twice.
Because if it's not attempted murder, then what's to stop anyone from running over someone with their car if they don't like them? Or can you only commit murder with a gun?

Get real. He was using his car as a weapon and you know it.

Yep. Those joints are open almost all night. They have to close around that time to give them time to clean up before the next day/night.....

I think the problem is the fact that the cops were UNDERCOVER cops, dressed in mufti, i.e. dressed like hoodlums. Who can tell if you're being hijacked or not. Traffic stops need to be done by UNIFORMED cops dressed like policemen with their cap and uniform visible to the driver.

I believe he was armed. His vehicle became a deadly weapon when he used it to run over the police. The perp was using deadly force just as if he had he been using a pick ax instead of the car to attack the police.
