>>>I heard over 50 rounds fired - doesn't anyone check during re-loads to see what is the status of the target?>>>
Wow! I didn't hear that. That is overkill for sure! You shoot to incapicitate, not mutilate.
I think they are trained to shoot to kill, but maybe I'm wrong. You incapacitate with a stun gun.
My grandpa was a detroit cop.....he always said, never pull your gun unless you are going to shoot, and you ALWAYS shoot to kill......
"Police! Turn off your car! Let me see your hands!"
What part of those words didnt they understand. Follow orders and you stay alive. Pretty simple stuff.
No, cops are supposed to shoot to stop the body, center mass. If one shot is justified, they all are. In this case, the first shot was jsutified.
Yes, one officer did empty two clips into the car, but it was still moving at the time.
I wish your sentiments reflected the true mindset and/or policy of law enforcement agencies....
As of late -- the thin blue line mentality has crept into the use of deadly force...
Simply put... the "buzz" remains that if deadly force is necessary -- or "deemed appropriate" by the Rules Of Engagement in the heat of the moment -- THENCE... it should be DEADLY!
They have no one to accuse them of brutality or overkill....
They have no one to file a federal lawsuit for violation of their civil or constitutional rights....
They come off as macho-tough and fearsome warriors of the street that are to be feared by everyone else without a badge....
The thin blue line.... really is quite thin!
Most of our larger cities served by mega-sized police agencies are much closer to the edge of true "police states" than most of us realize... Mid-sized and smaller agencies follow suit in policy and tactics in order to be "current" in their own sight.
Given the increase of lawlessness and careless disregard for the keeping of domestic tranquility... this development is not that surprising.
In my humble opine....
Have a great day
Wow! you don't have to 'hear' anything --- read the ARTICLE.
How many seconds does it take a group of police officers to go through 50 rounds? 5 second maybe?
"Wow! I didn't hear that. That is overkill for sure! You shoot to incapicitate, not mutilate."

OK, I'll accept your point. Faced with a situation which occurs within seconds, and when someone in a car is trying to kill you with that car, how many shots are you allowed? Two? Seven? How many?
You seem all-knowing, how many shots are allowed? How are they allocated? OK, you on the far left, you get one, next guy over, you get one...... By then you're all roadkill.
You never been on the streets have you
Oh I'm gonna puke. Please, once in your life, go do something real, something dangerous. It will give you a more realistic viewpoint on life.
Real life isn't the movies. All too often when someone is trying to kill you, with a car or whatever, your body fills with adrenaline, your heart is pounding, your arms feel like noodles and your small muscle coordination turns to mush. You aren't going to "shoot the gun out of his hand". On the contrary you are trying desperately to pump bullets into the middle of his torso. As many and as fast as possible. Same goes if you are watching a buddy being attacked. If you have 10 cops there and one of them is under attack you can bloody well bet that 50 rounds are going to be fired. They won't stop until the attack ends and neither would you. If you even had the presence of mind to do anything but stare. or cry.
Yeesh.
Im not so sure. Isnt it 'shoot to kill' if youre in a deadly situation?

I heard there were 8-10 officers involved. Not a reload situation.
