DPAD Home: End all arguments: PS3 vs 360

PS3 vs 360… 360 vs PS3… is a very touchy subject as everyone is aware I’m sure. Before this article gets underway its important that everyone keep in mind that neither of these 2 consoles is weak by any stroke of the imagination. Both are very powerful and significant upgrades over their current generation counterparts such as the PS2 or Xbox and as always it’s about the games. What it TRULY boils down to for the vast majority of people out there is that they don’t care about the specs of a console. All most people care about is “How good are the games available for it?”

So I want it to be understood immediately that by no means is this article meant to be some sort of indication of which of the two consoles will end up coming out on top. Nor is this article meant to, in any shape or form, change anyone’s mind about which console they decide to purchase. This is simply an article intended to inform people about both machines and in doing so there will of course be comparisons between the 2 machines, but they will be facts. With all of that said lets get down to business shall we?

Long, tech-heavy article. For those of you not tech-inclined, I'll sum it up:

The Xbox 360 and PS3 CPUs have really high theoretical performance numbers, but are not capable of achieving anywhere close to those numbers in any real world situation, or even in most custom-designed lab tests, with the PS3 being the bigger offender (it can use less of it's theoretical power).

Nintendo Wii. The choice of Eric Cartman, and much cheaper than PS/3 or Xbox.

My daughter has asked for a Nintendo DS - not the DS Lite, dad, because I don't like that one - so now I know, finally, what to get her for Christmas.

If you're like me, you like a quiet living room. Be forewarned that if you get a 360 you will hear it. Its fans and disc drives are VERY loud.

The PS3 by comparison is silent.

I'm getting the Nintendo Wii instead. Fantastic games, silent, and only $250. :)

Good thing the Democrats won and resurrected the economy in a week, otherwise no one would be outside in the rain waiting all night for the Playstation 3.

This was the worst economy since Hoover 2 weeks ago.

I'm still chuckling over the fools I saw capmed out at retailers yesterday, just waiting for a chance to buy one of these.

Easy choice.
It's the XBOX 360 by far.
Gears of War simply blow away anything Sony has on their PS3, in terms of graphics, game play, sound, everything.
A for the Wii, it simply has nothing that is even on the same planet as Gears. I call the Wii a souped up Gamecube. The graphics is a joke, and the launch titles apart from Zelda are pretty weak. 3rd party titles like COD 3 are already out on the XBOX 360, and have the best multi-play n the business.

Not to mention the PS3 costing to the tune of $200 more than the XBOX 360 for essentially the same graphics, but with the XBOX 360 having far more games than the PS3 today, much better games, and more and better exclusives than the PS3 this Christmas and the near future.

It's enough to make you wanna buy a Wii, isn't it?
I really love the DS, even though I slagged it continously until I actually saw some of the demos. I imagine the Wii is going to be the same way. Not to mention that it uses a familar (some would say too familar) single-processor architecture. I imagine all the really good games are going to be on the Wii.
