Without commmenting on the theology itself, this is the dumbest reason given for why the Republicans lost this election that I've seen yet, and the bar was pretty high..

If evangelicals left the party, we would win.

I consider myself fairly well-versed on politics, but I never HEARD of Haggard until he was "outed" by the media. I think his effect on the ultimate outcome was almost nada.

This article is ridiculous.
Here in Colorado (where Ted Haggard is actually from) the Republicans who held to a strong Biblical stance and were not afraid to speak truth ALL won! The "Republicans" that were wishy-washy and catered to the trade winds that were blowing got it handed to them.
How does this article explain these God-fearing Republicans from Colorado: Congressman Doug Lamborn, Congressman Tom Tancredo, and Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave?
And on the state level we have God-fearing representatives such as Kevin Lundberg, Greg Brophy, Mike Kopp, Dave Schulteiss, etc., etc., etc.

Not to mention that many Envanglical churches signed with the Council of Churches agenda (Antiwar, antigun, pro social welfare, pro abortion, pro-criminal, ect)
To: JohnHuang2
Ted Haggard's problems decribed in this article had no effect on this election whatsoever.

I never heard of Haggerd before, but I had heard the commercials for Evangelicals Against Climate Change.
Actually I thought it must be Soros and Moveon sowing confusion by picking a religious sounding name for another front group.
Now that I know the founder is a meth head, I can see where he got his strange theology. Hoo boy.

2 Thessalonians 2
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Good article, thanks for posting, but I think what happened with Haggard is that God exposed him and brought him down just like God brought down Baker and Swaggart. I knew about Haggard when I voted and I voted straight Repubican.
The fact is, God will not allow His holy name to be dragged through the mud and God will not allow a man who has access to thousands of souls to use Him to try to implement an agenda that is against His commandments and principles. That's what I belive happened with Haggard.
To: JohnHuang2
The timing of Haggard public meltdown was uncannily 'perfect' for the radical Dems victory election sweep.

As a Baptist I never heard of Haggard.
However, from seeing his picture, I am surprised that he could fool so many people.
I am sure many of these mega-church organizations are headed by homosexuals.
Most seem to all have an effeminate aspect about them

The Republican Party lost the mid-term elections primarily due to the war in Iraq . . .That's what the MSM would have us believe, anyway.
