Democrats Will Take Control of the Senate

Posted on 11/07/2006 10:21:07 PM PST by jern

Looking at the votes still to be counted in MO it is bad news for Talent. He still has half of St. Louis County still to go. MT and VA are toast. 51-49 Democrats

from what i can tell most of the incoming house dems are more moderate then the lunitic democratic leadership, (or at least campaigned that way)

The only 'name' out there that is not a Senator is ole Rudy. Who is far too liberal socially for the base methinks. But if he is paired up with a conservative running mate it may be stomachable to conservatives in the general election.

If he survives the primary though is another question. Though the fear of Hillary may be enough to get conservatives to vote for him. I would cast a ballot for him in a heartbeat (and I despise RINOs) if it came down to him vs. Clinton (who already has had two terms as POTUS ;) ).

They won't stay that way once they come into Washington. They'll fall in line with Pelosi and Reid.

I dont even think thats a reasonable difference, McCain wants more troops on the ground, Hillary wants out, is that different enought. McCain has said he will appoint pro-life judges, Clinton will surly nominate internationalist liberal judges..thats just two, comparing McCain to Hillary is laughable

Also, they eased their conscience in a lot of red states by either believing (or forcing their conscience to believe) that they voted for a Conservative Democrat.

Thomas Sowell wrote on article about that "A New Voter Fraud: Democrats are getting people to vote for moderates in order to put extremists in power.". It's on the National Review website.

Exactly. They know they're bought and paid for, and will act their indentured servant parts.

Zipped this off to Rush and others tonight:

Dear Rush,

Well, we reap what we sow - You (and I do mean you, Rush, and others) anoint a moderate buffoon to the White House (who I too voted for twice as the lesser of two evils) because of expedient politics instead of on honest Conservative values and real leadership…

Add unqualified political appointments that result in bad politically-correct military tactics and policy on the battlefield, poor politically-correct management of our borders and illegal aliens…

Add Republican empty suits in Congress, beholden to traitorous out-sourcing / open-borders big multinational corporate money, betraying the conservative revolution of Newt; Too busy enjoying being in control spending our money, while trying way too hard to be nice and bipartisan to enemies on the other side of the aisle and in their midst…

Which leads back to the main offender - The utopian moderate in the White House (nice honest guy though) which also lacked the spine and leadership, and yes – ruthlessness, to keep Congress in line (or to decisively win a war).

The Result = The Socialist (Communist) Party (PC term: Secular Progressives) now control Congress – The worst of the worst; the far left will now hold key positions.

Bravo, Rush…this country is now officially screwed. While more honest Conservatives like Sean Hannity and Michael Savage tried to warn Republicans on a whole host of important issues, you continued to narrowly parrot the official Republican line…yes, you would elude to it on occasion, but just couldn’t say Bush by name. Well continue to run your funny parodies, which I’m sure will be even more funny with Pelosi in charge now.

Sincerely,

PS: I voted for every Republican on the SC ballot today…no problems here this time (except for when Lindsey Graham comes up for re-election, who will not have my vote).

I think it was more the war than Bush himself. All we get on the news is the downside, the body counts, the suicide bombers. Nothing good. Most people are convinced it isn't working, can't stand to lose any more of our best and brightest, and unfortunately aren't thinking any deeper than, "make it stop!" It doesn't occur to them that the reason we've had no new attacks is that we're fighting them there instead of here. We haven't had any more attacks and so they feel safe, safe enough to vote Dem. In that sense, Bush is a victim of his own success.

I base this on the turnout. It was huge, which means a whole lot of Republicans voted Democrat. You don't vote Democrat if you're just disgusted over spending or the borders--you stay home. Also, a lot of conservative amendments did well in the various states. That also speaks to Pubbies out voting conservatively on the amendments, but voting for Dem candidates. This a protest vote against Iraq.

If the Dems take the Senate also, I wouldn't want to be an Iraqi, esp. a Sunni or a Kurd. God help them, 'cause we'll start a timetable for withdrawal, Iran will wait until we're mostly out, and the bloodbath will begin.

I agree (as usual) with him. It is how the Democrats clung to power for so very long in the first place. Let us hope that they overplay their hand and that we get to see lots of fawning in the MSM over Madam Speaker Pelosi -- and remind America just what their votes have gotten them.

I think we will get the country back in '08 and I hope in a big way with a new wave of junior congressmen and women who will rekindle the spirit of the '94 Contract with America.

Democrats cling to power by making the American people believe something they are not. Look at 2006. When they were not playing to their kook base in the east, every single one was saying or doing conservative things. Harold Ford takes the prize for that - he actually stood in front of the Confederate Flag !

Yes I hope we win back the House in '08 too. And then Rush can be reinstated as the honorary member !

Outside of 9-11, I cannot think of a worse day.

Clinton winning in '92 and the Democrats being in total control was definitely a worse day. And, that, like this victory of the Democrats, was short-lived.

I think this just opened the way for 12 million illegals to be legalised, American voters it seemed wanted that way.

That can only happen if Bush lets it happen.

Put it in a historical perspective. 1986 was a very similar year. Like 1986, it's a setback, but the real war had already been won. We won in 1984 just like we won in 2004, which means that we remain in charge of destroying the Soviet Union and the Islamofacist, respectively.
