My homeys at the Weekly Standard have published their election predictions, and they range from dire to calamitous. Meanwhile, Im merrily skipping about Soxblog Manor (in a completely manly way, mind you) whistling a happy tune. I expect Tuesday to be an extremely successful day for the Republican Party.
You go, and I will too !
Excellent!

Yes, the pollsters' records are so bad that it is hard to believe that anyone pays attention to them --- I remember back when economists' projections were quoted widely in the popular media, and how for many years no one pointed out that these widely-quoted economists had an abysmal record.
Based on the pollsters' individual records, none of them are worth paying the least attention to, much less paying them cash money.
Not a single one of them can point to accurate results that correspond to ballot results over several election cycles.
They also report interim results that are highly suspect: all of the pollsters regularly report wild swings in polling that are extremely unlikely to occur in reality as frequently as these swings are reported.
Is the Needle Moving a Bit in OHIO?!
...Did this race move from double digits to single digits in the past week? Again, I don't want to get false hopes up, but there seems to have been some movement in the past week. And I'm not sure there's been a particular event in this race that would have moved them. So arguably - again, we're trying to read runes in the dark here - there's something to suggest some movement in the Republican direction, and it's broad, not candidate based. Either disgruntled Republicans coming back into the fold, or independents looking at the Democrats and having second thoughts, or both. Or maybe Kerry effect.
Again - might not be enough to swing this race, but I think it's one more tidbit of evidence for a shift in these closing days.
Exactly.
I agree with the author. Not because I know anything special about any polls. I don't. But I think as election day draws closer, people are getting serious, and enough of them deep down know that the Democrats are NOT what this country needs during this particular war.
I feel good as well... pretty good.
BUMP!!!
You mean to tell me that there is a good chance that my prayers are heard?
Well, I am not so sure.
1. The Only Real Poll is on Election Day
2. While not Optimistic about the results, I proudly already mailed in my absentee Ballot for Wisconsin in mid-October, so my lack of optimism in no means affected my voting.
3. Vote, make me a believer
From your mouth to God's ears. My only concerns are that: (1) the media has beaten down the spirits of the Republicans to the point of "why bother", (2) Republican wins, if any, will be thin; and, (3) either way, the lawyers are going to be fighting results, fraud, etc., in the courts for weeks. We expected 2004 to be a repeat of 2000; however, this may be the election that makes 2000 look like a dry run.
What is Hewitt predicting?
You will not see anything done about Democrat Voter Fraud until the PEOPLE in those Dem-Run Areas rise up and throw the bums out by margins large enough to overcome the Fraud Factor....
This year's polls were NEVER designed to be TRUTHFUL, they couldn't be with Oversampling margins as high as 16%!
They were designed to DRIVE the NEWS CYCLE, and keep the Dem Base in the game, and donating...
You don't think those Limos and Private Jets are FREE, do ya?
I use that same argument against people who are so anti Bush. I've asked several people why they are voting against a Republican, and their response is "I can't stand Bush" or something similar. Then, I'll tell them that Bush isn't running for anything. They seem to be very embarrassed by their, especially when others are present.
I'm not sure I understand your premise. The word on "Flags of Our Fathers" was that it was sympathetic to the plight of the Japanese side during that episode of the war. Rumor had it that Eastwood wanted to present a balanced perspective. That killed much of the potential audience before it was ever released because most people do not want to entertain a sympathetic side for our our enemies.
Americans in general want strongly defined lines between good and evil. We like black and white. The liberals attempt to obfuscate the line between good and evil. That's why a lot of these movies bomb. Americans don't think there should be moral equivelency between us and the enemy. In truth, they are diametrically opposed. The rats would have us believe they are the same.
I think the fact that "Flags of Our Fathers" bombed is a good sign based on this premise. Still, I'd like to hear more on why you think the opposite.

Laura Bush called ME yesterday. ;-)
I usually hang up on those automated calls, but I wanted to hear if her recording was specific to Oklahoma races. It wasn't.
