Matthews Brushes Off 'Brouhaha': 'I Think Kerry Meant To Go After President'

The MSM troops have begun to rally around their man.

Interviewing Ted Kennedy on MSNBC, Chris Matthews referred to the controversy over Kerry's comments as a 'brouhaha' and a 'rhubarb. Kennedy was of course only too happy to agree, calling the controversy a "diversion" and even casting Kerry as the victim, claiming he is the "target of Republicans" reacting to his criticism of the war.

A bit later in the hour, Matthews flatly claimed that Kerry only meant to say that Bush hadn't studied enough before he became president and thus got us into a mess in Iraq, and later still:

"I think he meant to go after the President."

To quote that great student of human behavior, John McEnroe: "you cannot be serious!"

Well it surely took off today for some reason. It may have been just like they said; he blew the delivery. But I tend to think they scrambled to find a way to fix his words AFTER the fact and came up with that.

That he has contempt for the military is apparent. That he is willing to speak out loud to the media about such contempt is in the public record.

What he said Monday fits right in with his past, and to me (like others have said here) speaks volumes of what he and the dems in general think of the military.

IF he was not referring to the military, why did he feel he had to come up with not one, but TWO totally different explanations for what he said?

Firstly, he was 'talking about the President and the failed plans etcetcetcetc'.

THEN it was a 'humorous commment that didn't quite come off right' or words to that effect.

IF and I repeat IF because I do not believe EITHER of his lies, he did not mean to insult every member of our excellent military, why has he had to express two completely different explanations for his vile remarks?

Hmmmm? He has a short memory and he couldn't remember what he meant? He has a hard time with the truth? Which lie is the right lie?

I wait for your peerless explanation.

Kerry is a vile, nasty excuse for a human being. He said exactly what he meant. After all, he is JOHN KERRY, and don't anyone forget it.

It was suppose to be a slam on Bush. But he misspoke and it went downhill from there.

Doesn't work logically, since it is well known that Kerry's college GPA was lower than Bush's, unless he is slamming himself for his war vote as well.

Kerry hasn't handled it well at all though.

Kerry's "joke" was what you call a Freudian slip - a remark intended one way that inadvertently reveals a deeper truth. In this case, the truth is that Kerry's a sneering, contemptuous snob who truly believes he's superior and the rest of us are dirt. This reminder of his true nature - and the real philosophy of most of his fellow liberals - is what's hurting him, and them, and not so much the substance of his remarks. And his angry tantrum/press conference non-apology is just icing on the cake.

Even if you buy that ridiculous explanation. First off, the audience clapped at what he said. That in and of itself is disasterous. Secondly, if he's implying the President is STUPID, Education deprived, all we have to do is resurrect both of their grades. HE IS SO STUPID.
