John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

LOL! Obviously Kerry's a "floater".

Yup, and it looked like this in the making.

Mr. "2 gallon flush" can only blame himself if his floater won't go away.

He's furious and that's a good thing. I'd be furious at myself also if I ever said the things he has during the fighting in two wars against American troops. This jerk should be in prison, not mouthing off as a United States Senator. Outrageous that he thinks he shouldn't be confronted due to his shameful behavior. He really does believe he is Presidential material. The arrogance of this sleazeball is hard to believe. Next we'll see him reenacting his dreams, shooting the opposition and taking over the government by force. It's egos like this that one should fear.

Kerry is so busted! I love it!

So do I. Of those in my lifetime who have run for President, Kerry is the most mismatched jerk for the job I've seen in my 66 years. I love to see jerks ruin themselves, as they usually do, but I love it more with Kerry as this jerk has spent his entire life molding every fibre of his being to be President but he did so on the backs of others with little regard for anything past his own egotistical self centered, opportunistic self. To be short a phony jerk.

when I first heard this remark, I thought that he was referring to Bush.

Hard to put Bush into that statement even in thought.
Bush got better grades than Kerry so it doesn't make sense that Kerry would be referring to Bush as not smart or he'd be bashing himself. Kerry has never held back punching Bush directly by name so why would he skirt around the President's name.

Kerry is still in his 60s mode...never grew up. To him military is to be bashed and disrespected. Like Clinton he has no regard for the military. He tried to avoid Viet Nam, just as Clinton did, and when he couldn't he joined what he thought was the safest navy position. He tried to made the most of it in resume building (war experience good for the resume)but thought he'd be at arms length from real fighting. That turned out not to be the case when his unit(s) Swiftboats were reassigned to closer battle. You know the rest of the story.

The shocking truth is that his condescending ladened mind was somewhere else when he opened his pie hole and uttered those words.

His vision is that most kids who aren't in school choose the military. It never dawned on him that he was inferring that soldiers were failed students.

His ego wouldn't allow him to beg forgiveness. He's a sarcastic SOB.

He was not referring to Bush.

He was referring to the Vietnam days when if you didn't get a deferment you got sent to Vietnam.

If he was referring to Bush, then it was just about the most illogical, nonsensical paragraph ever constructed.

Actually, if you watch him speak it, he looks mentally unfit to perform the job of reciting the speech. He looks down, loses his place in the script and the unfortunate words pop out.

I have little doubt that he believes what he said (as opposed to what's in the script) in his heart of hearts and that's why this story resonates so well with everyone. But watching him fumble makes it look like a fumble.

Unfortunately for him, his statement quoted in this thread makes him look, well, insane and it's likely to do more damage than the original remark in the long term.
