John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions
johnkerry.com ^

Posted on 10/31/2006 9:37:49 AM PST by Mo1

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

I wish this actually did represent a public meltdown from this scumbag, but it is a carefully calculated response to make him come off as "tough" and not as the eitist wussbag he is.

Seems that they had this statement waiting and ready to do, didn't they?

There are people around here to always buy the liberal spin... there are others who help perpetrate it.

Gee guys, I didn't mean what I said, even though I said it, because what I really meant to say before I denied it was taken out of context..

Hey Kerry, where's your DOD-180 that you promised to "release".

Okay, I'm holding the screen up to my head like Karnac the Magnificent, so let me channel Kerry and tell you his answer:

"180? I spend my life doing 180s! What do you think flip-flopping is all about? This is just another Republican smear, this claim that I refuse to do 180s."

He wasn't talking about our President...he was talking about our military...plain and simple.

To think otherwise...is, well, unthinkable. IMO

DITTO AND BUMP...Our son enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for 8 years. He is extremely intelligent

Double ditto:

My son-in-law is a U.S. Navy pilot - his brother, a Seal/demolition expert, is now on his way to Iraq. One of my grandson's, Army Airborne Task Force - stationed in Italy, just got back from more training in Germany - and will soon be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.

There aught to be a law that the freedoms our brave troops fight to assure us should not be extended to the likes of Kerry.

First response he is pompous by calling those who question him names (Snow, Limbaugh)?

Second, he says he was talking about GW Bush?

Third, it was a joke that went awry?

Now he claims he was tired and misspoke?

Next he will claim that he was for the Iraq troops before he was against them????

Then he will be blaming Teresa???????

I thought his MBA was from Yale. At any rate, this fact will NOT be used against John 'effin Kerry by the LameStream Media.

They don't give a damn about the truth: that has been made abundantly clear. Here's their mode of operation, as I see it...

1. ALLEGATION/RUMOR HITS THE EAR OF THE LAMESTREAM MEDIA "JOURNALIST"

2. QUESTION ASKED: DOES IT HURT THE CONSERVATIVE POSITION/PRESIDENT BUSH/REPUBLICAN PARTY? (Note: the question is not 'is this true/relevant/refutable in any way?')

3. IF THE ANSWER IS "YES", REPEAT IT AD NAUSEUM. IF THE ANSWER IS "NO", DISCARD THE INFORMATION.

"Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men."

The best the Democrats can do is supply some Hollywood actors who can ACT like real men!

On second thought, many Democratic women are real men.

I'm no fan of Kerry either, but he was in fact referring to Bush, not our soldiers. Kerry's words are being deliberately distorted, and I'm afraid it will backfire on us.

You should soon be contacted by the Rat spinners - you're even better than they are at spinning the unspinnable -

Turn on FOX right now and see the truth

Kerry has a history of saying things like this or worse about the troops.

No need to apologize for him...unless you are paid to do so.

referring to Bush

HorsesH_t!

Fox played more of the video and everyone laughed and Kerry smiled and it was right out of the Vietnam era.....disdain for soldiers. I was military then, and I went on to a career, and I'm certain what he meant.

Those laughing kids knew what he meant.

We're supposed to think it meant: "get an education and you won't end up in Iraq like George Bush?????"

Bush isn't in Iraq. He's in the WH.

"Get an education and you'll be too smart to end up in IRaq?????"

Meaning that the nation is TOO STUPID???

Nope.

Had to have meant the soldiers.
