John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions
johnkerry.com ^

Posted on 10/31/2006 9:37:49 AM PST by Mo1

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

That was perfect--Great job!

I have been FUMING all morning after I saw that despicable piece of Dem flesh say what he did about our kids. Not only did he slap them, he slapped us parents. I don't feel like I failed my kid because she wanted to enlist. She was on her own, with a great job and was 25 yrs old at the time. And she made us so damn proud.

Kerry slapped us, and he slapped all military moms and dads and families the country over. Because he was a failed pres candidate, he is accusing us military parents as being failures to make himself look big.

Bastard

Interestingly enough, I read:

"Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men."

Right after FOX announced that Hillary was going to present a 'tough speech' of some sort.

Yuppers...real men.

Kerry's words are being deliberately distorted, and I'm afraid it will backfire on us.

The hell it will. The problem with the 2006 "campaign" so far is that the dems refuse to CAMPAIGN. They slink in the shadows and come out long enough to talk about what color the drapes will be when Nancy Pelosi chooses any suite she wants.

Remember when Ned Lament won the primary, and we were jazzed, because it meant that the Democrat party was going to run hard left? Well, they didn't. They told Lament to stand in a corner and stuff a sock in it.

If the Dems actually run on their issues, Republicans will win. The only way the Dems sweep into office is to hide their actual positions while they supress the Republican vote.

Even if the Dems take 12 seats, the majority of those seats were created from redistricting (mostly due to Dem Gerrymandering), with a couple of scandals and two seats where the actual Republican candidate was barred from being on the ballot due to the order of a Democrat judge.

There IS NO fervent anti-incumbent, anti-republican, throw-the-bums-out mood among the general electorate right now. There's only dems exploiting dissatisfied Republicans. Why are the Republicans dissatisfied? Because they don't hammer creeps like Kerry enough.

I agree that the initial Kerry "joke" was targeted toward Bush and has been misunderstood. But that clip also reminded me how much I CANNOT STAND John Freakin' Kerry and the rest of that crowd. The more they try to "explain" the joke to those folks too dumb to understand it the first 70 times, the more Republicans will show up to the polls on election day.

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy."

OK so let me see how the Kerry camp's retort (he was talking about the President not the troops) hold's up if applied literally. Instead of...

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

..here is the Kerry excuse applied:

“You know, education, if (Bush) make(s) the most of it, if (Bush) stud(ies) hard and (Bush) do(es) (his) homework, and (Bush) make(s) an effort to be smart, uh, (Bush), (Bush) can do well. If (Bush) do(esn't), (Bush) get(s) stuck in Iraq.”

Well that washes now doesn't it.

I was planning on sitting this election out over my dissatisfaction with our Republican leadership.

But Noooooooo! John F'n Kerry had to open his pie-hole and disparage our troops, now I'm off to vote straight Republican thanks to Mr. Kerry.

(I've voted, just hope this gem from Lurch motivates those thinking of sitting out!)

Yes, kids, he actually did suffer this release, including that ever-so-diplomatic lead-in, to be posted on his official web site. Dude really is that stupid.

Does anyone have a transcript of his entire remarks? What he said before and after would surely prove the last nail in the coffin for his defense.

I originally thought this was a spoof from The Onion.
Kerry will soon have to distance himself from his remarks explaining his original remarks.
Kerry didn't stop digging - he just got a steam shovel to make his hole bigger.
Besides owing the military .. and their families an apology,
using the Michael J Fox standard , doesn't Kerry owe Rush and Tony Snow an apology ?
Rush has his hearing loss and may be on steroids to prevent rejection of his implant-the doughy comment is particularly cheap, but, typical.
Tony Snow is recovering from colon cancer.

I'm no fan of Kerry either, but he was in fact referring to Bush, not our soldiers. Kerry's words are being deliberately distorted, and I'm afraid it will backfire on us.

If you swallow this spin - you are naive to a high degree.

Kerry hates the military. The statement is what is it and cannot be spun to be otherwise....

Remember, the only reason he joined was that he thought he was about to be drafted.

After he had been turned down at least twice for a student deferment.

"His arguments that because some in this administration didn't serve in a war somehow makes war decisions by them as not valid is a complete joke. What an a-hole this guy is."

So, I'm assuming that kerry will come out and say clintons decisions during his term aren't valid because he didn't serve, right?? oh, wait..clinton is a dem and at that time, the argument was that people that DON'T serve are every bit as effective as those that do..
