Senator Kerry owes an apology to the many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country's call because they are patriots and not because of any deficiencies in their education. Americans from all backgrounds, well off and less fortunate, with high school diplomas and graduate degrees, take seriously their duty to our country, and risk their lives today to defend the rest of us in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.
They all deserve our respect and deepest gratitude for their service. The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq, is an insult to every soldier serving in combat, and should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night. Without them, we wouldn't live in a country where people securely possess all their God-given rights, including the right to express insensitive, ill-considered and uninformed remarks.
"Clarke is dodging by saying he didn't hear what Kerry saiad, but then goes on to compliment the troops."
Seems like a lot of those federal form numbers end in 171. You can't tell the forms apart without the form that lists all the form numbers.
I guarantee you the IQ is wayyyy higher in the military than at Pasadena City College, where Kerry made his remarks.
The response to Kerry's response should be: Sen. Kerry, we speak English, and in plain English, you said to America's servicemen that they are uneducated and stupid. Dissembling won't change the plain meaning of what you said.
No doubt, his news conference is a reaction by his handlers at damage control. The damage has been done to US troops quite enough by this arrogant clown. I wish he would just "Shut UP"
...and it doesn't take an Ivy League education to figure that out!
Well stated, defenderSD!
He did know that once, but he doesn't now. Pardon me the ass is talking now and i am feeling ill.
If Kerry had uttered "Macaca," the mainstream media wouldn't have covered it. (Of course, our FREEP Truth Squad would be all over him...)
How foolish of me-- especially since it now appears that's the precise response he's choosing for this one.
Yaaawn Cut&Run served in Vietnam, for the North Vietnamese!
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
After I first read it, I was surprised by how much I wanted to just sit and cry knowing all of our Heroes were going to hear that as well.
Word is, that Bush is PISSED!!! and plans to call him on it!!
I have to agree with what John Podhoretz said over at the Corner: Kerry's comments today on our allegedly stupid men in uniform demonstrate how out of touch the man is. Insulting the soldiers in Iraq in front of a bunch of predictably liberal college students is not a smart thing to do; compounding the problem by playing the "chickenhawk" card makes George Allen's "macaca" gaffe seem Shakespearean by comparison. The alarming thing is that this man managed to get 48% of the vote just two years ago. The reassuring thing is that he will never ever come anywhere near the White House, although that was set in stone before this incident.
More proof that Kerry walks in darkness.
I totally agree with you and Podhoretz, griswold3. All I can say is that I hope Kerry gets to meet the likes of Washington, Grant, Pershing, Patton and MacArthur face to face sometime in eternity. Better yet, any common courageous American soldier from our past wars. It wouldn't be pretty.
Also, it is indeed frightening to think that Ohio was the only state standing between that gutless traitor and the White House. God bless you if you're a Buckeye Stater - you helped refuse Kerry the flank in 2004. Let's hope we can shore up not just Ohio but the rest of the country in time for Tuesday and 2008!
I guess that Senator McCain won't be Senator Kerry's choice for Vice President in '08 either.
