Maybe they would get your vote. And that's the way it should be. But sadly, it's not.
The scene in this book is perverted plain and simple. I don't think it matters what they want to label the book because the thoughts came from a real person who obviously is a very sick man.
In the context of the story in the book, it doesn't look like porn. More sociology

I can't comment on Webb's literary abilities, but it seems he uses sex primarily for shock value. He sticks to the bizarre.
This isn't mudslinging, quoting a man's own words. Any mud here is entirely Webb's.
Character is as important as issues in an election. I don't give a damn how intelligent a politician is, if he is completely lacking in common sense and moral sense, if he doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, then I don't want him in public office.
This is way over the top, and not just one passage, dozens of them. It's plain disgusting, and it confirms my impression that Webb is a man without integrity or decency.

Those "sophisticated people" you reference must have been out to lunch when it has not been proven that Foley EVER had any any physical contact with an underage page...I'm sure there are thousands who are under the impression that he did, thanks to the above "news" sources.
Yes I long for the days of "my worthy opponent" but in those days the opponents were generally worthy. Standards were higher. The concepts of being disgraced and hanging your head in shame were still alive. In the disgusting era of Studds, McGreevy, Foley, Clintoon, Frank, and now the demented "author" Webb (really, who thinks of such things?)politicians usually deserve what little mud does get thrown at them.
Since the details of this probably won't be printed in the VA newspapers, I suggest everyone in Virginia go to Drudge, print out the article, and take it to work, etc. Pass it around.
Gosh, Nancy Pelosi made all those "strong" statements of loathing for Foley and Republicans who supposedly protected him..... and portrayed herself as the ultimate defender of "the children"..... what did she say, don't you dare mess with the cubs or the lioness will tear you to pieces, some crap like that..... will anyone in the MSM challenge her to be the "lioness" now that one of her party's leading candidates is shown to have a fondness for child pornography and teen sex???

Webb probably gave them autographed copies of all his novels in gratitude for their support.
