Teacher in Hiding After Attack on Islam Stirs Threats A French high school philosophy teacher and author who carried out a scathing attack against the Prophet Muhammad and Islam in a newspaper commentary says he has gone into hiding under police protection after receiving a series of death threats, including one disseminated on an online radical Islamist forum. The teacher, Robert Redeker, 52, wrote in the center-right daily Le Figaro 10 days ago that Muhammad was a merciless warlord, a looter, a mass-murderer of Jews and a polygamist, and called the Koran a book of incredible violence. The Redeker case is the latest manifestation in Europe of a mounting ideological battle that pits those who believe Islam and the Prophet Muhammad can be criticized in the name of free speech against those in the Muslim community who believe no criticism can be tolerated...In his commentary, Mr. Redeker compared Islam unfavorably to Christianity and Judaism, although he admitted that the history of the Catholic Church was full of dark pages, and he criticized the hostile reaction to the popes remarks. Jesus is a master of love; Muhammad is a master of hatred, Mr. Redeker wrote, adding, Whereas Judaism and Christianity are religions whose rites forsake violence and remove its legitimacy, Islam is a religion that, in its very sacred text, as much as in some of its everyday rites, exalts violence and hatred... Immediately afterward, Mr. Redeker, the author of several books on philosophy, began to receive death threats by telephone, e-mail and through the online Islamist Web site known as Al Hesbah, a password-protected forum with ties to Al Qaeda. The forum published photos of him and what it said was his home address, directions to his home and his cellphone number...

I'd suggest Mr. Redeker not seek asylum in the USA.
As our guvmint is busy importing people that would like to kill him.
Or would just stand aside as he got "van Goghed".

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
. . .well, I could entertain it as well; and have at times. It is kind of a 'cooked frog' dilemma; inasmuch as by the time we are desperate enough; we may no longer have the 'force of will'; or the opportunity. . .
OTOH. . .

Islam cannot survive the truth. That is what this is all about. Think of all of the Imam's oxen that would be gored.
When truth is against you, it is hard to accept it. By pushing Islam into the faces of so many others, muslims have been confronted, in the media and elsewhere, with the contradictions and the illogic of their faith. Anger, rage and denial against the truth are always the first lines of defense. And this is no small matter, for, in the end, that truth threatens the believed structure of the world, itself. How many times, in how many other places, have other faiths fought desperately to preserve the world as they understood it?
Yeah, let's hope for OTOH as more people seem to be reaching the same conclusion we apparently share.
I think the next french presidential elections (april 2007) will be a good test about french real feelings about immigration, security and islamisation. If traditional candidates (Royal and Sarkozy I presume) are inable to speak honestly and courageously about these issues, and act when elected, then I can't tell you what the future of France (and Europe) will be. But, believe me, the worst can seriously be envisaged...
The Darwin Awards are for people that do things that are stupid. What this man did was dare to speak the truth, not because he was stupid but because he was brave.
It's beginning to sound like "The New World Order" is Islamic. Like I've been saying, it's either us or them, so we had all better put our political grievences behind us, and unite to fight Terrorism.
The conclusion by which 'name' cannot be spoken. . .LOL. . .I wish.
Merci ;^) . . .
About two years ago a friend of ours who visited Paris told us that the Champs Elysee is filled with burka clad women and Muslim men in the evenings and that the 'old days' of strolling down the Champs on warm summer evenings is a pastime the Parisians have abandoned. This made me sad, because I have fond memories of doing that when I was young and a student in Europe (a long time ago). I also thought about the photos of the Nazis rolling into Paris down the Champs - looks like the Muslims have taken over for sure in view of this teacher's plight. Sad. Once again the French have merely surrendered.
Some choice; hide or become a dead froggie.
we may no longer have the 'force of will'; or the opportunity. . .
You speak the truth wisely. Think of this possibility: Hitlery is elected POTUS. Bubba is Secretary of State. Madwoman Albright is the rep to the U.N. They collectively move us to their revered 'One World Order' a.k.a. the Clinton Global Initiative under which 'world laws' are senior to our U.S. Constitution and three key things become world 'law' under which we fall: 1. Only approved religion may be openly practiced 2. Children must leave their homes beginning at age 2-3 and may not be homeschooled or taught any religious doctrine 3. A quota is placed on how many people can have educations above a certain level, how many can earn what amounts of $$, few if any privately owned companies, other than small family businesses, government takeover of all utilities, etc.
Have a link?
I was there in the spring. Muslim women approached me for money at the train station and under the Eiffel tower within the first few minutes.
Worth repeating. . .and of course they are other scenarios out there; but with the possibilities. . . similar unfolding conclusion. . .
