It looks as if immigrants youths want to turn nightly rioting during the Islamic holy month of ramadan into an annual tradition. Around 8:30pm last night violence erupted again in Brussels, the capital of Europe. The riots centered on the Brussels Marollen quarter and the area near the Midi Train Station, where the international trains from London and Paris arrive. Youths threw stones at passing people and cars, windows of parked cars were smashed, bus shelters were demolished, cars were set ablaze, a youth club was arsoned and a shop was looted. Two molotov cocktails were thrown into St.Peters hospital, one of the main hospitals of central Brussels. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fires at the hospital, but youths managed to steal the keys of the fire engine.
During the month of ramadan Muslims are required to fast during the day and are only allowed to eat after sunset. As Esther pointed out What should be noticed about the riots is that they start after sunset. Besides the fact that they start after dark, it also gives the rioters enough time to break their fast and enjoy the traditional family meal. Sunset is around 7:30pm. Tuesdays and Mondays riots began around 8:30pm.
Last night the police arrested 45 rioters. One of them will be prosecuted for assaulting the owner of a shop. Philippe Close, the chef de cabinet of the Mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, said that the authorities would continue their efforts to defuse the situation in a peaceful manner, but he announced that the police will be less complacent in future, since we cannot tolerate that this [Marollen] neighbourhood falls victim to a problem from outside the neighbourhood.
The immigrant youths claim that they are upset by the death of Fayçal Chaaban, a 25-year old criminal, in a Brussels prison last Sunday. Yesterday morning the authorities announced they would hold a meeting with the youths to hear their grievances about security in prison, but the meeting, which was due last night, could not take place because of the riots.
The authorities are especially nervous since the Belgian municipal elections are being held on Sunday October 8th. It is likely that the elections will be won by anti-immigrant, islamophobic parties. Since ramadan will not be over on October 8th and many immigrants might perceive a victory of the indigenous right (as opposed to their own far-right) as an insult, Muslim indignation over the election results in major cities may spark serious disturbances. According to a poll published today the Vlaams Belang party is set to win 38.6% of the vote in Antwerp (compared to 33,0% in the previous municipal elections six years ago).

Euroweenies just simply do not get it. There's no "peace" or "reasoning" or "talking" to these scum. They understand one thing and one thing only:
Brute force.
Since the Koran has numerous passages instructing the followers of Islam to slaughter infidels if they don't convert to Islam, and numerous Muslim holy men of various kinds ordering and teaching the same thing, how can you say that those who follow those instructions are "straying from the path"?
Are you a Muslim? I asked before and you didn't answer.
(BTW, I am a Hindu who also studies the teachings of Jesus; I have also read at least some of the Koran, and am not scared to read the teachings of any religion in the world.)
"It is no less ambiguous nor more violent than certain offenting books in the Bible."
Umm - Jews (who are the subject and authors of the OT) have not been slaughtering anyone in the name of religion for several thousands of years. Muslim jihadis, OTOH, are doing it as we speak and have been consistently for the last 1400 years.
You don't see the difference here?
I really wish I could disagree with you...but I can't.
I won't this time, I'm just too old to hump ammo anymore.
5.56mm
"They have strayed..."
And what, pray tell, do you think will put them on the straight and narrow since many of these thugs are learning there behavior(hatred) in mosques by "holy"men?
I'm not afraid of muslims.
I'm mad as hell at them.
Deuteronomy. Leviticus. Book of Revelation.
Clearly this has not always been followed, but the command is to love your enemies. Anything less is sin.
Yep.
That's the $64,000 question, isn't it?
Maybe we can start by not conflating Muslims and terrorists. It only reinforces the terrorists who hide behind religion.
I see the difference. Do you see the similarities? Violent religious texts do not mean that a religion is devoted to terrorism.
If you look at my posting history you'll see that my religion is clearly stated, but since you volunteered your personal information, I will tell you directly that I am not a Muslim.
Thanks for the info.
The fact that the OT contains violent history is not comparable to Islam promoting violence, because Jews have not used religion to be militarily aggressive for a very long time, whereas Muslims have done it non-stop since the time of Mohammed, and continually use the tenets of their religion to do so.
Additionally, the Koran specifically promotes forced "conversion", and Islam is noted for that hideous practice both currently and historically. That practice has been done by Christians in the past and was diabolical as well. I have a couple of ancestors who were killed becasue they were the wrong kind of Christian - one was burned at the stake, one was hanged. Fortunately, Christians have rejected such barbarity.
Another very important point is that Jesus Christ never, ever authorized forced conversion, whereas the Koran applauds it.
yep, no difference.

Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abd Al-'Aziz: We Will Cut Off the Tongues of People Who Try to Distort Islam with Claims of Reform and Corrupt Progress. They Are Employed in the Service of the West
Following are excerpts from a speech delivered by Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abd Al-'Aziz , which aired on Al-Majd TV on September 25, 2006.
Prince Nayef bin Abd Al-'Aziz: Brothers, we are not alone in this world. We are not living on a planet of our own. We are living in the center of this world, with all its good and evil. I say clearly that the evil of this generation is far worse than that of other generations. Everybody should know that our country - because it is the country of Islam, and because it is a country that implements the Koran and the Sunna - is the primary target for the things that are happening in the world.
[...]
We are being targeted from many directions. I say, with the utmost pain and sorrow, that we are being targeted by those who claim to be Muslims. These people have become preachers, instruments, and implementers of the will of the enemies of Islam, whether knowingly or unknowingly.
[...]
Jihad is here. We must wage Jihad against the enemies of Allah here. The enemies of Allah are in our midst. They claim to be Muslims, although they are as far as can be from Islam. They call themselves "reformists" or "preachers," and say that we support the West. They are hostile to us on these grounds. Yet, at the same time, the Westerners and others claim that we are the birthplace of these people. Where are we? Why don't we tell these people who we are? Why don't we argue with them, discuss things with them? Why don't we respond to everything they say? Why don't we restrict the ignorants among us, or even those who think they are Islamic scholars?
[...]
The enemies of the Muslims have used Muslims and Arabs to corrupt Islam and the Arabs. I don't think any of you present denies this fact.
[...]
Is it not an insult to Islam in general that someone so plain and worthless like Osama Bin Laden is considered important? Does anyone accept this? Not only is he worthless, but he is an agent. He was an agent of foreign intelligence agencies, and he still is - him and those who support him. Who established Al-Qaeda?
[...]
Al-Qaeda has taken advantage of Bin Laden's money, and they put him in the forefront, because he is affiliated with the Saudi kingdom. Even though he is from another country, he received Saudi citizenship. Who is Al-Zawahiri? We must ask ourselves who is Abdallah 'Azzam, the spiritual father of these people?
[...]
My brothers, the danger is even greater. Even those people have become tools in the hands of the enemies. Unless we face reality with truth, courage, and evidence, and if we do not stop all the transgressors, who try to distort Islam with their claims of reform and their corrupt progress - this will be dangerous. These people have been tempted by the West, and have been employed in its service. We are familiar with their relations with foreign elements. We are fighting them and will continue to fight them, and we will cut off their tongues.
That addresses my point. Jews did it in the time of Moses and don't do it now. Therefore, the fact that Muslims did it in the time of Muhammad doesn't mean that Muslims are compelled to do so now. No matter what "scholars" in the Nuke Mecca Crowd say.
Additionally, the Koran specifically promotes forced "conversion"
Chapter and verse, please.
Another very important point is that Jesus Christ never, ever authorized forced conversion, whereas the Koran applauds it.
Unfortunately, what Jesus did or didn't do has too often been immaterial in the reasoning of professing Christians over the past two millenia.
Could you remind all of us exactly when the televised speeches of the Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia were declared holy Islamic doctrine?
"Then when the Sacred Months have passed, then kill the Mushrikoon (idolaters, polytheists, pagans, the disbelievers in the Oneness of God, etc) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salaah, and give Zakaah, then leave their way free. Verily, Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful".
(Quran 9:5)
That passage refers to a specific battle, not religious policy for all time.
A common misconception. While that passage refers to a specific incident in which a treaty was broken between Muhammad's forces and a specific set of pagans, it's taken by Wahabbi and other hardline interpretations of Islam to mean exactly what is says. The fact that Muhammad himself did this is evidence that it is the correct course of action. While some scholars point out that this was done during time of war, Wahabbi scholars are quick to point out that this is a time of war.
The historical context is, of course, fascinating, but entirely irrelevant to 2006, in which the Wahabbi version of Islam is subverting the other forms, and pushing itself into conflict with the West.
