SHE LOOKED LIKE A LITTLE GIRL WHO HAD TO GO POTTY...(The Katie Couric Debut)

KATIE COURIC last night underwent her second on-air colonoscopy.
Watching the procedure was not a horribly painful event. Nor was it an experience I would volunteer to repeat any time soon.
For her very first night as CBS News diva, Katie spent a half-hour looking as if she desperately had to go potty. Her back was so stiff as she looked into the camera, pop-eyed and self-conscious, I feared it would snap.
Her face was Botoxed beyond normal human endurance, proving that even pampered, overpaid news babes possess the courage to suffer for their art.
And for the first time in history that a female was allowed to deliver a network's evening news alone, Katie chose to wear an unfortunate white blazer - the result, no doubt, of some jokester lying to her face when Katie asked, "Does this make me look fat?"
And the day after Labor Day, to boot!
For this they pay her a reported $15 million a year?
The best that can be said about Katie Couric was that she did not trip over her 5-inch stiletto heels when she toddled across the floor of the set, crossing her bare legs like some ridiculous tramp.
The worst that can be said about Katie is that she did not fall flat on her face - which would have provided a much-needed break in the tension.
Western civilization did not exactly end last night as Katie took to the anchor chair. But the changing of the guard did represent another kind of cultural change.
As of yesterday, network TV has proven it no longer feels the need to pretend that its nightly news broadcast is sober stuff, populated by earnest men and women with serious reporting backgrounds and working blow-dryers.

The smartest move See-BS could have made would have been to find an absolute nobody and let him build an all new image for the news based entertainment show. You mean like.....

I'm left wondering why so many people who hate Katie bothered to watch her. I'm not a fan, I didn't watch. Why would I want to be counted in her ratings? And note to the author, the whole white after labor day thing has been over for a long time, and from the picture, it looks more like an off white anyway. If she is going to be b!tchy, do it accurately.

I didn't see anything abnormal in the show.....I don't like her that much but I thought she did a good job....nothing fantastic, dramatic or memorable....just normal..
.

.
Without the hype which side lined Iran , Iraq and the war on terror, the economy, the large oil find in the gulf.... her debut was as you described.

In all fairness to Katie, it was her first night, so natually she is going to be a bit awkward.
That will pass as soon as she gets settled into her usual routine of Bush-bashing and anti-Republican news stories.

How I long for the days when the national news was on for only fifteen minutes. Somehow they managed to encapsulate all the news we needed to know without spin, frills or hype.

Ann Coulter has been hired by CBS?
I'd buy a TV for that...

This is kind of like the Kennedy-Nixon debates. Watching vs. Listening, too distinct impressions. Well, Last night, I did not watch. However, local radio ran it on the air, so I did LISTEN.What I heard was shocking. She made at least four flubs in delivering, and voice sounds terribly hoarse and tired. There was no dynamism. Her cut away to other reporters was very poor.
From LISTENING to her on the TV via radio, it sounded like she was in big, big trouble.

I was overjoyed at reading the Post article, actually.
It was such a refreshing antidote to the endless....nonstop ....insipid ..... parade of foolishness we have all been forced to endure with the nearly second coming-like rollout of last nights news show.
