A Day in the Life of President Bush (best photos of the week): 9-2-06
www.yahoo.com & other sources ^ | 9-2-06

Posted on 09/02/2006 4:06:56 PM PDT by silent_jonny

President and Mrs. Bush are spending Labor Day weekend at their ranch in Crawford, Texas.*

*This is based only on the information I could find. I could be wrong.

On Tuesday, September 5, the president will resume his series of speeches which remind us all of the true nature of our enemy (the Islamic fascists), while criticizing the critics of the WOT (the leftist appeasers).

With no other news available, today’s Dose will recap the best photos of the week.

Enjoy your Saturday visit to Sanity Island

Perhaps tomorrow's Psalm to be read at Mass is why Pres. Bush is a much better man than his enemies:

Whoever walks blamelessly and does justice;
who thinks the truth in his heart
and slanders not with his tongue
Will live in the presence of the Lord.

FALLEN SOLDIERS' FAMILIES SAY BUSH IS 'GENUINE'
By Matthew D. LaPlante
The Salt Lake Tribune

[jonny: Would you please post the photo with this article -- it identifies the Gold Star mothers that the AP reporters couldn't be bothered to identify:
President Bush embraces "Gold Star" mothers Carol Thomas Young, left, and Jan Moncur, whose sons were killed while serving in Iraq. (Eric Draper/Courtesy of the White House)]

Robert Lehmiller isn't really the hugging type.

But when President Bush opened his arms to the father of fallen soldier Michael Lehmiller, the Clearfield man didn't feel he had much of a choice.

Lehmiller said the embrace he received from the president was "warm and sincere."

"It was unexpected and it was absolutely wonderful," Lehmiller said. "It felt as if our loss was truly heartfelt to him."

GRAND HONOR: GEORGE W. SLEPT HERE
President joins hotel's list of famous guests
By Celia R. Baker
The Salt Lake Tribune

There was nothing low-key about preparations for Bush's visit, however. During the two weeks before his arrival, 40 Secret Service agents stayed at Grand America to supervise background checks on all 1,400 of the hotel's employees; work out security issues; and set up a communications command post with 60 secured phone lines, wireless communications, a satellite dish and satellite phones

THE PLAMEGATE
HALL OF SHAME
Instead of Cheney or Rove or Libby, the real culprits are favorites of the Washington elite and the mainstream press.
by FRED BARNES

WOW! . . . Fred names names and takes no prisoners!!

The rogues' gallery of those who acted badly in the CIA "leak" case turns out to be different from what the media led us to expect. Note that we put the word "leak" in quotation marks, because it's clear now there was no leak at all, just idle talk, and certainly no smear campaign against Joseph Wilson for criticizing President Bush's Iraq policy. It's as if a giant hoax were perpetrated on the country--by the media, by partisan opponents of the Bush administration, even by several Bush subordinates who betrayed the president and their White House colleagues. The hoax lingered for three years and is only now being fully exposed for what it was. Let's start at the top of the rogues' list:

Lt. General Russel Honore, Mississippi Adjutant Gen. Harold Cross, Adm. Thad Allen—three people that know what they’re doing, as opposed to three people that don’t: Nagin, Blanco and Landrieu.

Boy, that's no lie.

Dr Deb, you're most welcome.

Miss Marple, I, too, am often touched by the Psalms read at Mass. Sometimes they are so appropriate for today that I catch my breath on reading them. Surely, the word of the Lord was for ALL times, not just as some people believe, Biblical times. Amazing, isn't it?

Kayak, thank you for all your work keeping the prayer list, and choosing the appropriate Psalms.

President George Bush does not fake anything, least of all this. As a teacher and a mother, I have also watched people with children. He loves them too with a touching absoluteness. There is no faking that.

Jonny, you amazing man. Today we see yet another side of you other than the artist and the girl watcher macho type. Adam LIndsay Gordon's four lines contain the beautiful truth about courage. Thanks for posting them.

The Anchoress provides great commentary and links as she lambastes the Canadian scum who have made a 'mockumentary' which depicts the assassination of President George W Bush.

REAL ATTEMPTS ON THE PRESIDENT'S LIFE - UPDATED
By The Anchoress

Remember that bizarre incident in Chile where President Bush had to come to the aid of his own Secret Service guy?

I remember it. I remember seeing video of it, and watching Bush push people away from his guard and haul him in, then flick his cuffs, take his wife’s hand and greet a dignitary. Classy and cool. And you can watch the video, thanks to Marie. Thanks too, to RW and Dottie.

Wow--a comment like that deserves a guest house upgrade :)

This is the best one on the estate. Private pool, 'round-the-clock room service, plasma screen TV ...

And I'll even throw in Pepe the pool boy at no extra charge ;)

So many of the Psalms seem as if they could have been written in the last 5 years.

Very true. Felt the same about the epistles of Paul.

Has anyone verified the President is at his home in Texas? I saw earlier that he might be.

I honestly don't know ... I looked everywhere, trying to find some information. The best I could find was an article that mentioned the President would be staying at his ranch "before" the Labor Day weekend. With nothing else to go on, I just guessed that's where he is now.

My heart goes out to President Bush. He shouldn't have to make speeches like the one you feature. It should be a no brainer, and it would be if not for the people who care more about their power, then our security. God bless this good man!
