Webb Ahead of Allen in Latest Poll (47.9% - 46.6% = Load of Zogby Macaca)

WASHINGTON -- The Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Virginia has pulled ahead of his incumbent opponent.

According to an independent Wall Street Journal/Zogby poll, Jim Webb is leading over Republican Senator George Allen.

The poll puts Webb at 47.9 percent and Allen at 46.6 percent.

The new poll shows a 12 point swing since mid-July, when Zogby had Senator Allen leading over Webb by 11 points.

The Wall Street Journal reports that John Zogby attributes the swing to comments that Allen made on August 11.

During a campaign rally, Allen called a rival campaign worker of Indian descent "macaca," which is a word that refers to a genus of monkeys, but can also be considered an insult.

Video of the event was posted online, and Allen was criticized for his behavior.

Allen said he had made up the word and later apologized.

The poll was conducted from August 15 - 21 and has a margin of error of 3.2 percent.

"Can I criticize Timothy McVeigh or John Allen Muhammed?" - Corin Stromhands; "Or Lee Harvey Oswald, or Benedict Arnold..." - Extremely Extreme Extremist

See what I mean? You call yourselves "conservative" yet you tar all veterans with the likes of those you cite - why? because you yourselves didn't have the sand that it took to really involve everything you had for the country you claim to love. Your first counter to the question "what was your service for your country during wartime?" is answered with an attack against all veterans.

Jim Webb was a member of my generation who really risked everything and proved himself in spades. Not by playing football when all of the men of his generation were fighting and many dying, not by typing tripe on keyboards - but losing his own blood in our service.

Noncombatants that hurl insults against heroes like Jim Webb are beneath contempt.

See what I mean?

Not at all. And you've entirely missed my point.

I have not called Webb a traitor. Nor has Senator Allen.

Webb can have all the opinions he wants. But he's wrong. Dead wrong.

And he's wrong for Virginia.

You're welcome to that opinion and you may even be right - but comparing him to McVeigh or Oswald?

How does that help you make your point/why shouldn't all veterans be insulted by that invidious comparison?

This is a bald-faced lie. This reporter and others want you to believe that Allen went out of his way to use an incomprehensibly obscure way to insult a guy who was spying for his opponent. It defies credulity.

It's amazing and outrageous that the MSM created this controversy from whole cloth. A prominent Indian-American activist was widely quoted as saying "What [macaca] means, I don't know. But it's going to cause [Allen] some grief", and darn if it did, after the media filled in the blanks about the lurid possibilities of what he could have meant presuming he wasn't just talking out of his posterior (which is where the smart money lies). It couldn't be clearer whose side the media is on.

No. You missed my point.

You seemed to be asserting that no one who had not served in uniform could criticize someone who had. That's absurd.

No one was comparing Webb to McVeigh or Oswald or anyone else. We were just illustrating your point, when taken to the extreme, had some flaws.

webb is knowingly allowing himself to be used as a tool by people who want to damage the GOP and put America-hating scum like schumer and kennedy back in power.

The idea is to beguile basically conservative, mainly white males away from the patriotic American party and back to the party of treason, socialism, taxes, crime and welfare, using webb as a decoy.

By cooperating with this vile scheme, webb is pissing on Reagan's grave. he is also pissing on HIS OWN military record.

There you go again, with the strawman arguments. Nobody's attacking Webb's heroism or military service.

Perhaps you should read Soldier of Fortune magazines or watch A-Team reruns or something.

Margin of error 3.2%! That's wider than the gap and then some. Bye, bye, Webb!

And maybe you should try throwing the 'ol uniform on and helping fight the war we have in progress now..

Beats the heck out of wasting time with character assasination against those that have really served their country.

It is actually risky, though - figured I'd let you know that ahead of time.

Yeah, cause Zogby won't adjust the numbers till the last minute when he realizes his little scam didn't influence many voters.

Apparently you didn't read my previous post.

I did enlist to put on the uniform and was scheduled to see action in the first Persian Gulf War.

I have a lot of respect for veterans and those serving in the military but my respect for you is starting to decrease.

Zogby now has Webb up by 9 or 10 points.

Zogby will either turn out to be a visionary, or an idiot, for his novel concept of allowing people to volunteer to be polled.

It is clear that the left, which is very internet savvy AND has no problem with lying, has gotten their people to sign up with Zogby and pretend to be republicans. They even picked republicans early on, just so everything would look normal.

Now they are "changing" their votes as we get closer to the election. Why anybody thinks allowing people to be re-polled and to sign up for polling is beyond me, it's bad enough with random sampling to get people to be honest (lefties are told to say they are republicans but pick the democrat positions "with reluctance").
