We are reading only about 24 arrests today. If we were already in the heralded antiwar world of Ned Lamont and the war-against-the-war crowd, it could be much different. We could just as easily be reading about ten jumbo jets exploded out of the sky. Or 3,000 murdered innocents mostly American and British citizens. Reality has once again inconveniently burst the antiwar, anti-security, anti-American balloon, just as the November victory ballrooms were being booked.
Just as central casting was whipping the articles of impeachment into shape. The high crimes and misdemeanors of George W. Bush include: hunting down terrorists, detaining them, interrogating them, penetrating their communications, and following their money.
These damn jihadists just wont cooperate. Cant they read the polls?
As British authorities continue trying to round up around 50 fifty! mostly homegrown Muslim militants who were attempting to execute over the Atlantic the very plan master terrorists Ramzi Yousef and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed nearly pulled off over the Pacific a dozen years ago, its worth reminding the triumphalist antiwar Left of an important point.
As much as they sometimes seem to have in common with jihadists when they speak about America, its government, its military, and its president, the two are drastically different in one crucial particular.
The antiwar Left wants to wield American power. The jihadists want to destroy it
and us. All of us.

Jihadists believe passionately many of them passionately enough to die for it that they are commanded by their religion to kill us. They wont be reasoned, cajoled, moderated, Westernized, modernized or democratized out of their views.
They have to be defeated. They have to be defeated in Iraq whether or not one agrees that we should have gone there in the first place, and whatever one thinks of how competently the post-Saddam occupation has been managed. They still have to be defeated in Afghanistan. They have to be defeated in Lebanon and ultimately Iran. They have to be stopped in Sudan. They cant be allowed to set up new command-and-control beachheads in Pakistan, Somalia, and elsewhere. They have to be monitored throughout the West including in our own country because the operatives here are the ones who pose the greatest threat to our safety.
This is a daunting task. Its a job for adults and patriots, not opportunists and power-mongers.

News that is not on the News from Houston...apparently a couple of luggage guys succumbed to fumes while loading in the cargo hold of a Continental Airlines plane in Houston, TX today. Of course no further word from the local news here about it. Any one else see or hear anything?
Absolutely!
The anti-war pro-muslim Left will focus more on our so-called "loss of freedom" as airport security gets more restrictive... rather than the real problem, which is islamic terrorism.
It sucks for them that the GOP has the first president and congress that ever took substantive action against the world's great terrorists.
Hey, where would we be today if the Patriot Act, wiretapping, and Homeland Security dept did not exist? Perhaps we'd have an 8/11 to add to 9/11.
That is why the DNC and the Jihadis must merger to form one power, as Ann Coutler states.
"London calling, yes, I was there, too
An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?
London Calling"
Karl Rove, you evil genius!
I like the title!
One of the best articles I have read in a very long time.
There is actually a poll right now as you say that on AOL,
But AOL/Time Warner must be disappointed at the results.
They'll wait a few days, try again.

Are airline safety officials in the U.S. overreacting?
No 69%
Yes 24%
Not sure 7%
Total Votes: 79,355
Note on Poll Results
A particularly good line.
No, they will split up the "NO" option into two or more ambiguous NO responses so YES can rise to the top.

Liquid Spill In Continental Plane Cargo Hold Sickens 3
Friday August 11st, 2006 / 18h44
HOUSTON (AP)--Three workers were sickened Friday by an odor after an unidentified liquid in a U.S. postal service bag spilled in the cargo hold of a Continental Airlines (CAL) plane at Bush Intercontinental Airport, officials said.
The Houston Fire Department was working to determine what the liquid was, said District Chief Tommy Dowdy.
"It's an acidic liquid. We have isolated the bag. We are trying to identify the source," he said.
Preliminary tests showed the liquid was not radioactive or flammable, officials said.
The Houston Fire Department was called to the airport at 8:45 a.m. local time after three baggage workers unloading the cargo hold became sick from the odor.
The workers were being treated at a Continental clinic at the airport and were expected to be released, Dowdy said. No passengers were affected.
It was not immediately known where the plane had come from or where it was headed.
Continental Airlines did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

I love the "not radioactive or flammable" as if they are trying to insinuate that it couldn't be used as an explosive. What a crock...
Added Colorado to topics by mistake, meant to add Connecticut. Sorry.
Imagine what the lefties would be saying if this had happened on Tuesday, primary voting day.
