KIEV, Ukraine Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Azriel Chaikin and the Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Naomi Ben-Ami met with the leader of the Ukrainian Cossacks Anatoliy Schevchenko and the General Judge of Cossacks Igor Kozlovsky. At this meeting, the Cossack leaders assured the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and the Israeli Ambassador of their support of Israel as it combats terrorism. As a dean of a local higher-education institution, Mr. Schevchenko said his teaching staff was doing everything possible to explain to their students the importance of supporting Israel as well as the need to fight against anti-Semitism and national and religious intolerance.
The Cossacks also announced that they were going to visit Israel on a solidarity mission at the invitation of Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Azriel Chaikin. The parties shared their opinions regarding the current situation in Ukraine and in Israel, the Israeli Ambassador expressing her hope that joint efforts of the international community aimed at resolving the current conflict and preventing such conflict in the future. At the end of the meeting, the Israeli diplomat thanked the Cossack leaders for their support and understanding of the Israeli position.
I love it!
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
When I think of the settlement of the Pale, and the antisemitic Black One hundreds who participated in numerous pogroms I think of the Cossacks. They were the enforcers of the Romanov policy of discrimination and death against the Jews in the Empire. This is great that these two former bitter enemies are joining forces. It tells you volumes about the geopolitical conditions of the world that would bring these two disparate groups together.
I agree with you. I love it.
Peter the Great, or some other Tsar, toyed with the idea of a Jewish Cossack cavalry unit but it didn't work out too well in practice.
Notice the difference in support from the Cossacks and those who secretly hate Israel. The Cossacks are supporting Israel. The French support Israel but...
There is always that but at the end of the axis of appeasement's statements of support of Israel.
Something we all learned from John Kerry is if someone gives a statement (ie: I support Israel) and then follows it with a but (ie: I support Israel but), then whatever follows the but is what they really think (I support Israel, but I would like to see a cease fire asap).
Good for the Cossacks that their support is actual, true, real support. Not this "I support you but..." undercutting garbage the rest of the appeasers dish out. If Israel keeps getting support like that, Hezbollah will not need to worry at all.
Laura Ingraham refers to these as "but Monkeys". I think it's great that these 2 former enemies could pull together to support each other against the Islamonazis. Wish more of the world would do so. Islam is the Black Plague of this period in our history. We should be the antibiotic.
Wow. Happy Friday ;)
I once was fortunate enough to call a beautiful , red haired, athletic Cossakchika (Kazachka) a close and dear friend. She lived in what was West Germany at the time. I learned a lot from her about the Cossacks, and developed a profound respect for them.
It is wonderful that such former enemies can unite because the Warriors of Zion and those of the Cossacks have much in common.
And what's more, can they ever dance!
Terrific pic Candor7!!
You mention the enimosity from days long gone. Although your historical connotation is fundamentally correct and relevant, I think both the Cossacks (or: a good number of them, anyhow) and the Jews have found a common enemy in today's islamism.
And that would be a good thing indeed.
Yes I agree with you wholeheartedly, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
----------------------------
Now if we could only get the Kossacks to drop their antisemitism and take the muslime threat seriously.
The World Turned Upside Down
That goes a long way toward explaining a whole lot of UFO reports ...
Oh, yes ... Dude on the far right has the hots for #3 flying-saucer chick.
Goes to show that even former bitter enemies have to make peace and join together to fight a greater enemy, Islamofacists.
"Cossacks and Jews join forces.
I love it!"
Wouldn't it be neat to have Cossacks fighting FOR Israel and the Jews? Anti-pogroms! That's what they need!

Please call the number below to thank President Bush and to give your input on the need for the US to continue its high level of support in this latest Israeli vs. Terrorist war in the Middle East.
This comment line puts you in touch with a real, live, person to whom you can express your support for Israel and ask the President to "hang tough" to prevent a cease fire that would render the efforts of Israel in vain.
PLEASE CALL PRESIDENT BUSH AT THE WHITE HOUSE AT 1-202-456-1111 AND PROVIDE YOUR THOUGHTS.
PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU BELIEVE CARES.
