Love is a Battlefield
IDF soldier received heart shaped cookie somewhere near the Lebanon border...
You are correct! He is the winner here. That should be obvious now.
I wonder how Gillerman feels tonight???
I bet he is embarrassed to be representing Israel..at least I hope so....I can't believe he approves of this sham.
see #1838 if you want more a neck jerk
she has no options. Bush has no options. they can't force Olmert to fight. the best they can do is try to spin it as a "success".
Brilliant.
With one exception. Mike Wallace (and all who think the way he does) can be added to #12.
My poor Dad cursed her out something fierce. I read him this and calmed him down. It's the only thing I have read so far that makes any kind of sense out of the whole U.N. deal.
More resolution [Rich Lowry]
Was just talking to a friend who was noting that there is intense anger toward Israel within the administration for botching the war. He thinks the attitude was, "What's the point of giving them more time when they do nothing with it?" He thinks it's the worst defeat for Israel since 1948. He also guesses that the reason that the French flipped against the first resolution wasn't so much the Lebanese reaction as the realization of how poorly Israel was faring militarily. His general rule when it comes to U.N. resolutions in the Middle East is that they either simply reflect the facts on the ground, or make the victor give away a little bit of his victory; they never let someone pull victory out of a hat from defeat. So Israel will utlimately get from this resoltuon what they won on the ground, which is to say not much.
Poor Sofaman...he is on a plane right now..and doesn't know yet what has happened...
He is going to be heartbroken.
I also wonder what sofalad is going to say...he really came to love Israel.
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
At least CNN is reporting that Israel is making the most of this period, to pound the Hezzies.
I read the resolution and it is TRULY AWFUL. Gillerman could not possibly be happy in having to vote for this.
Some of the worst features are: there is NO MENTION WHATSOEVER of returning the kidnapped IDF soldiers; the agreement concedes Shebaa Farms to Lebanon; the UNIFIL mandate is extended to 31 August 2007; there are several loopholes that allow Hizb'allah to remain operative in Lebanon (as they are part of the so-called "government"); it contains a mandate for the "international community" to aid Lebanon in re-building southern Lebanon and providing humanitarian aid.
You can read that last part as most of the bill being footed by the U.S., i.e., you and me.
Of course, no aid for Israel...
This is an ABOMINATION.
good analysis there.

It is a failure. We lost a major battle in the War on Terror. This is a major victory for terrorists.
He has company. I'm glad he is not hearing this.
UN on C-Span now
I am disappointed in her.
That is an understatement, but I won't go into it. Also, there has been a lot of critical observation of the Bush administration on this forum, with vigorous defense as the comeback.
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
I'm thoroughly flummoxed.
I think there may be something to Rich Lowrey's comment that "...there is intense anger toward Israel within the administration for botching the war.". But it still doesn't sound like Bush or Rice or Bolten....they've never shown any faith in ceasefires.
This is NOT how Bush works. I still can't help but think something else is up...but I'm hanging on by a thread.
